President Donald Trump: The Thread

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 20, 2017 -> 09:32 PM)
Well, obviously he didn't remove anything personally.

Here's a better question...will those topics about gay rights and climate change/environmental protection EVER show up again on the Whitehouse.gov site over the next four years?

Most liberal activists certainly have no good reason they will ever reappear again without a fight.

Well obviously people think he did remove them that's why they reported it on Twitter. "Fake news"

“Potentially the biggest effect of this order could be widespread waivers from the individual mandate, which would likely create chaos in the individual insurance market,” said Larry Levitt, senior vice president at the Kaiser Family Foundation. In addition, he said, the order suggests that insurers may have new flexibility on the benefits they must provide.

Trump’s action drew swift protests from ACA proponents who have coalesced to try to preserve the law. “While President Trump may have promised a smooth transition” from the current law to a replacement, said Leslie Dach, director of the fledging Protect Our Care Coalition, “the executive order does the opposite, threatening disruption for health providers and patients.”

Other executive orders...the most notable being to overturn a recent mortgage-fee reduction — geared at helping first-time and low-income home buyers — that Obama announced last week and that called for the Federal Housing Administration to cut its annual borrowing fee by a quarter of a percentage point.

I wasn't around when Obama was first elected but was there this much talk about it like Trump?

No.

His speech to the CIA sure was... Something.

Another Iraq invasion?

And his own hype men to applaud him while speaking, just like at his press conference last week

https://twitter.com/giff18/status/822906986...src=twsrc%5Etfw

Also used the occasion to brag about how many times he's been on the cover of Time, falsely claiming he holds the record, and also lied about how many people bothered to show up to his inauguration yesterday. It'll sure be interesting to have a full blown narcissist who's detached from reality running the country.

My wife & I went with some friends the the one in St. Louis. I haven't seen any estimates the of turnout yet, but I could not believe how many people showed up for it. We were very fortunate with the weather. It was close to 70*, last Saturday businesses were closing because of an ice storm.

With all the illegal voting that made it look like Hillary had almost 3 million more votes than Trump, when in reality, the popular vote was a landslide victory for Trump, I wonder why he hasn't made that a top priority to get fixed. He is lucky, he is so great he can overcome that much fraud, but some of his fellow republicans cannot. That should be attacked soon.

Yet 42% of them voted for Trump

42% of people marching today voted for Trump?

During his speech today at the CIA, Donald Trump accused the media of falsifying images of his inauguration to make the crowd look smaller, while standing in front of the memorial for fallen CIA operatives.

The White House is now setting up for a press event with large, blown up photos of the inauguration taken from the perspective of the Capitol Building.

Edit:

President Donald Trump today also told the CIA that we may have to reinvade Iraq to take their oil.

It's just so predictable what will set him off.

I'm sure there's nothing foreign powers could do to exploit that.

Per US attorney spokesperson most of the 230 arrested yesterday will face felony rioting charge which carries a max sentence of 10 years and $25k fine.

Not exactly a great start to this administration if they want to temper the fears of authoritarianism.

No comments on the massive, worldwide demonstrations against him today, but they did brag about using the CIA as a political prop.

Eh, I'm used to people being overcharged after protest based arrests. That doesn't strike me as abnormal.

The new press secretary also took no questions while doing this. That is less than normal.

Vague threats to the press regarding holding them accountable were issued as well.

Crowd comparison 2017 vs. 2009

Interior Department banned from Twitter after retweet of smaller than usual Trump inauguration crowd.

Not only that, but the Women's Day Metro ridership was significantly higher today. Clearly lowest inauguration day turnout since 2004.

One of the most amazing experiences I've ever had. Today in DC was absolutely unreal. Ugh. Never gonna forget this one.

For better or worse, we're living through some very big history right now.

Spicer seems like a great candidate for the first staffer not to make it to 2018. Does he think the next presser will be easier? There's blood in the water now. You can't just demonstrably lie over and over again to the media unless you're Trump.

The thing to keep in the back of your mind when you see things like this is that this is how creeping fascism takes hold. Deny everything, attack everyone regardless of the merit of the criticism, build culture where the only source to be trusted is the leader, not the lying media.

There's no guarantee that it'll be effective, but it's something to watch for.

Ex-Director Brennan is already a traitor for leaking the "Golden Shower" dossier and should be sent to Guatanomo Bay for enhanced interrogation.

No, sorry, it's more like 20% of women. But 40-50% of them didn't even care enough to get up and vote.
