June 20, 20178 yr QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 07:17 PM) Romero appears to be the one guy they can count on. He had Ozuna down 0-2 and on the 3rd pitch threw heat right down the pipe. MLB Network (specifically Plesac ) calling it something like dead brain heavers. Just rear back and throw as hard as you can without thinking. Of course that's why you have a catcher so Weiters can share the blame.
June 20, 20178 yr You have to hope that Tampa stays in the race. The only reason why Rizzo has not done the deal yet is to hopefully have more options towards the deadline. Alex Colome is better, younger and cheaper than Robertson.

Yeah, and they also asked him to go more than one inning...I'll give this guy a break - he's been solid - but he can't pitch every inning or in every high leverage situation, as shown tonight. They need help.
June 20, 20178 yr Enny has been decent, but with Glover hurt, they have nothing after him. It's pretty much Albers and that's it. It's a hell-pit of sub-replacement garbage, and yet they're still like, 10 games up on the Mets.

It'll be fascinating to see who ends up being correct - the do something now crowd, or the wait til the deadline crowd.

Better + younger + cheaper = more expensive to acquire

There's little mention of any Rays being on the market right now...
June 20, 20178 yr Rangers? Wouldn't have 100% confidence in Bush. His numbers look very good though...just blew a save against hated rival Toronto. 3 bs off Bush, 13 overall for pen. Edited June 20, 20178 yr by caulfield12
June 20, 20178 yr Guys who could be on the market competing with Robertson: Roberto Osuna Justin Wilson Colome (highly skeptical of the Rays as sellers tho) Britton? He hasn't been healthy but he's very good Doolittle Neshek Nicasio Jim Johnson Probably a lot I missed. Robertson is far from the Nats only option. It just happens to be a good fit.
June 20, 20178 yr Really though, the Nats need 3 relievers, since they have to account for the inevitable mediocrity of Matt Albers.

Neshek and Madson concern me the most.

June 20, 20178 yr QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 09:01 PM) Not sure anyone here is saying they will/should wait til July 31. Ok, mid/late July?
June 20, 20178 yr QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 03:47 AM) Neshek and Madson concern me the most. Neshek isn't a closer though
June 20, 20178 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 11:03 PM) Neshek isn't a closer though It doesn't really seem to matter at this point. They need anyone. It all depends on when the front office feels like pulling the trigger(s). Edited June 20, 20178 yr by soxfan2014
June 20, 20178 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 09:03 PM) Neshek isn't a closer though I know...but I'm just going off of the assumption that they need quality arms.
June 20, 20178 yr Brad Hand, anyone in the Marlins pen who could be pitching good (idk off top of head).
June 20, 20178 yr QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 09:05 PM) Brad Hand, anyone in the Marlins pen who could be pitching good (idk off top of head). AJ Ramos.
June 20, 20178 yr QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 05:06 AM) AJ Ramos. Think there was a report that said they don't think he's good.
June 20, 20178 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 09:09 PM) Think there was a report that said they don't think he's good. Yeah, I saw it...hah, this made me laugh.. I think it is the $ more than his performance.
June 20, 20178 yr Hand has struggled a bit as of late...not unlike Swarzak situation, won't get (perceived) full value compared to a month ago.
June 20, 20178 yr QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 09:11 PM) Hand has struggled a bit as of late...not unlike Swarzak situation, won't get (perceived) full value compared to a month ago. All this is leading us to Kahnle! Robertson and Kahnle for Robles ++!
June 20, 20178 yr QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 05:15 AM) I can easily see Washington being interested in Kahnle more actually. Still think they want a true closer. To me, Dodgers are a great fit for Kahnle
