June 23, 20178 yr For all the complaining about Collins we forget he went straight to A+, and he's been markedly better than the other highly touted prospects in that class we had a shot at. Ray has seriously scuffled at A+ and Rutherford isn't lighting the world on fire at A (I know he's young). Once the BABIP stabilizes the Average-Obsessed crowd will relax.
June 23, 20178 yr Yeah there's no one holding Mendick back, I just don't think they have a SS to replace him with and he's not a high priority. Great year for him though.

June 23, 20178 yr I mentioned this a few days ago, but it's strange to me Mendick is still batting 9th. There's no reason he shouldn't be batting at the top of Winston Salem's lineup.
June 23, 20178 yr Are there reports on Mendicks arm? When I saw it in person it looked really weak, but all the scouting reports I saw say he's a defensive plus player that can stick at short.

He was a nominee for an award for best defensive shortstop in the country, in college. I have only seen him play once, and he was at second that game. I have had people say he has enough arm for short.
