#WhiteSox get RHP AJ Puckett (KC's No. 13) and LHP Andre Davis from KC. Puckett was #Royals second-round pick in 2016.

According to MLB.com, RHP Puckett is the Royals #13 prospect, is 9-7, 3.90 ERA at A+ 98K, 46 BB in 108.1 IP this season. He was a 2nd rd pick in 2016

Pucket apparently is a guy that might be useful. MLB.com bio says 90-94 on the fastball with sink and a plus change, high pitching IQ ~#4 starter

Gonzales is the only one left now. Give Hahn credit, he worked with any team that would offer a decent return for Sox players. Well done in my opinion.

This is Andre Davis

Scouts have taken notice. At 6-foot-6 and 225 pounds, Davis has a pro body. He can hit for power – he has six homers this season – as well as average. On the mound, the lefty’s fastball has clocked from the mid- to high-90s on the radar gun.

University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff left-hander Andre Davis was drafted in the eighth round with the 249th overall pick Tuesday by the Kansas City Royals as the first Historically Black College and University (HBCU) player selected in this year Major League Baseball 2015 Draft.

Davis, a 6-6, 225 senior was drafted as a pitcher played both infielder and pitcher for the UAPB Golden Lions.

On the mound, Davis has a fastball that hits the mid- to upper-90s consistently, along with a solid curve and slider according to scouting reports. During the season he was 2-2 with a 2.28 ERA recording five saves while he struck out 35 batters he faced permitted just 19 hits and seven earned runs.

Davis earned first team All-Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) honors this season as a first baseman as he finished the season with 51 hits, .364 batting average, scoring 34 runs and drove in 39 runs with 12 doubles, one triple and six homers this past season.

I have my hands above my head, clapping.

This is the MLB.com report on Puckett

Puckett sustained an epidural hematoma in his head in an off-field accident in 2011, resulting in him spending two weeks in a medically induced coma and ending his promising career as a high school quarterback. He made a full recovery and went to Pepperdine, where he was the West Coast Conference pitcher of the year in 2016 after fashioning the third-longest (45 2/3 innings) scoreless streak in NCAA Division I history. After signing for $1.2 million as Kansas City's top pick (second round), he easily handled an assignment to low Class A in his debut.

Puckett is more about pitchability than power. His best assets are his tumbling changeup, a legitimate plus pitch, and his advanced command. His fastball usually ranges from 90-94 mph with some run and sink, and his curveball can be an average third offering at times but lacks consistency.

His stuff plays up because Puckett works both corners of the plate and lives down in the strike zone. He also uses his size to create angle to his pitches, studies hitters carefully and has a high pitching IQ. A potential No. 4 starter, he should advance quickly and has one of the highest floors among Royals pitching prospects.

Davis might be a guy who benefits from being moved to the 'pen

Yep good K numbers

All in all I think this is a solid get for Melky, Puckett seems like a good bet to make the majors in the next year or two in some sort of capacity and any lefty that throws mid 90s is worth taking a shot on

Got suspicious when they took line up down here at park. Leury in left and leading off

4-5 in his last game for the Sox

BA had Puckett 5th heading into year (not top 10 mid season). Fangraphs had Puckett 6th preseason

Great trade.

But we gave up second best hitter on the team. Team morale gotta be sinking fast.

Seems like he has a real shot to be a decent mid rotation starter. I like everything I've read and his K numbers are pretty good in advanced A

Hopefully we will be able to draft the second best hitter on our next world series team after this year

Hopefully the players remaining know this is part of the process, and their job is to be professional and play hard, otherwise somebody else is going to take their position.

The remaining players all have contracts and futures to fight for, outside of maybe Abreu. If they don't play hard, they won't have jobs on a major league roster next year.

Adios Melky. You were a great team player, a very good hitter and a decent fielder. But, in a rebuilding process the Sox weren't going to pay another $14M a year salary

"maybe"

As a FWIW, if they aren't convinced in any of the upper level kids for LF, this also opens up the door to be able to bring him back easier, as they don't have to worry about the whole arbitration offer and process with Melky. It probably won't happen, but it does eliminate some of those potential issues as he is going to be getting a pretty serious paycut next year.

I'm going to miss Melky. Hope he kicks ass in KC.
