Does that seem really low or is it just me?

Very low. Like almost insulting for a team that has World Series aspirations.

Need that OF defense in that spacious park.

I think 20 years ago Beltran does not get in. He doesn't have any of the "Qualifying stats" like 500 home runs or whatever to get in. Closest thing he's got is top 50 all time RBI, but he's only 30 ahead of McGriff and McGriff didn't make it.

But...in the modern era, he's sitting at 67 career WAR and that's a hall of fame caliber number. I do think there will need to be some campaigning for him, but it'll be one of those that builds up into a yes vote over a few years of comments.

He's Jim Edmonds to me. And Jim didn't last a single year on the ballot (which was BS, but still).

Edmonds absolutely should be a Hall of Famer too. Among all hitters, Edmonds has the 90th highest career WAR, which means you can safely say he was probably one of the 100 best non-pitchers of all time. That deserves a place in the Hall.

Supposedly there is a lot of interest between Alex Cobb and the Cubs.

This match seems like a no-brainer IMO. Although, any discussion I've had with Cubs fans about what they think they're going to do this off-season, they say, "We're going to sign Cobb and trade for Archer" just because they hired the Rays' pitching coach lol the Cobb part I agree with. I imagine a deal for Archer starts with Happ and then one of Russel, Baez, Schwarber as Archer is very valuable to the Rays and they are not rebuilding.

Bob Nightengale‏Verified account @BNightengale 2h2 hours ago Scott Boras says there have been no talks w #Nats about contract extension for Bryce Harper but he's willing to listen. The Nats ownership believe Harper in free agency would cost in excess of $500 million

I doubt any team would sign him for more than 12 years or give him more than $40 million AAV.

Ryon Healy to Mariners from A's for a reliever and a prospect. Guy is like a somewhat better version of Davidson, but it's still a weird trade for the A's to make.

This was the expected behavior after new CBA right?

There were some thoughts that a couple of them (Hosmer, maybe Davis) could consider 1 year, $18 million deals, but it's not surprising. The new CBA lowers the penalty for signing these guys, so that should make their markets stronger.
