White Sox have shown interest in Machado

Any speculation on what the offer was?

I saw many said O's like Rutherford

I hope it was 3-4 players that would obviously fail a physical.

I have a feeling he may not have seen Hahn's comments today.

I think he is probably right. I think it is just a token effort to get their name attached to his for next year.

Moncada, Giolito, Kopech, Robert, Jimenez all off limits hopefully

I wouldn't put it past the O's to plant this story. I mean if I'm shopping a player I want suitors to think two of the teams with the top farms Yankees and Sox are interested.

I just don't see the fit. Machado is not going to get you to a wildcard and in the offseason all it will take is money. Some other team in win now mode will overpay as they should.

Not just money but they would lose a draft pick too

Haven't even thought of that...Wonder if they'll suck enough to protect the first

How good of friends were Castillo and Machado? Maybe that plays a part with being able to convince a player about the "Sox culture."

I have a hard time believing JR would be good signing even Machado to a long term deal for the money he'd demand.. however, trading a few spects for a proven player is fine to me. As long as they aren't the Sox top ones.

Any team that signs a player who has rejected a qualifying offer is subject to the loss of one or more Draft picks. While a team's highest first-round pick is exempt from forfeiture, any additional first-round picks as well as Competitive Balance picks are eligible. Three tiers of Draft pick forfeiture -- which are based on the financial status of the signing team -- are in place to serve as a penalty for signing a player who rejected a qualifying offer

I can assume BAL favors a deal with STL, SF, CWS, PHI, and NYY in that order

But the Giants do?

That initial deal for Stanton looked pretty attractive

SF also isn't rebuilding really

The giants farm system is garbage.

I believe that rumored deal was proven to be BS.

Acording to Mayo they don't have one top 100 prospect. I still kind of like Beede though. Though his stuff is supposed to have declined since the draft

Do. Not. Like. Why? He's not going to sign an extension, so why? This is such a dumb White Sox move.

I think our is only dumb by who they have offered. I would be ok if say out was Rutherford and Fulmer as the 2 headliners

Even that is too much in my book. With that offer I'd have to get a 72 hr window.

BS?

Thought Stanton just wouldn't move his NTC

I’m talking about the players involved. Sounds like the return wasn’t nearly as good as originally reported.

I think STL should really consider moving their chips to the table. Flaherty, Hudson and Bader would be an interesting get for O's. St. Louis has the money to extend Machado. They could really make a run at the Cubs in 18' with that lineup.

Also, Put me in the boat unless it is a very minimal prospects the White Sox should just be patient.
