12. "For 30, 40 years I've been watching flippers. Everything's wonderful and then they get 10 years in jail and they -- they flip on whoever the next highest one is, or as high as you can go."

"According to a 1981 FBI memo, Trump offered to 'fully cooperate' with the bureau, proposing that FBI agents work undercover in a casino he was considering opening in Atlantic City. FBI agents even prepared an 'undercover proposal concerning the TRUMP casino' that senior agents and Trump planned to discuss, according to the document."

I wonder if it was lost on Mike Pence how much Trump dissed him today, saying the market would crash and everyone would be poor if he were impeached isn’t a ringing endorsement for President Pence.

Mike Pence was busy at NASA JSC saying that if Obama hadn't cancelled the Constellation Program we'd be back on the Moon by now (we wouldn't) and how they have the budget to go to the Moon and Mars (they don't, they have basically the same budget as the last few years of the Obama admin). Not that I'm annoyed by this or anything.

Some of my friends couldn't come into the office today while they were staging their photo op.

Is this settled and adjudicated law?

To the best of my knowledge its pretty settled. You can only be pardoned for crimes you were convicted of.

In other news, Trump CFO granted immunity. I have a feeling some thing may go down soon.

Ford's pardon of Nixon came before Nixon was ever indicted.

The tweets are about to get even more insane.

One thing I found interesting last night  watching news programs, is a lot of Trump supporters will bail on him if he starts using pardons. Also, after the Cohen and Manafort developments, a FOX NEWs poll showed support for the Russian investigation rising to 59 % from 48% . Finally, people may be starting to see this guy for what he is, although I wouldn't make that bet.

This is straight from the DOJ:

Can the President pardon someone before they are indicted or convicted of a federal offense against the United States?

It would be highly unusual, but there have been a few cases where people who had not been charged with a crime were pardoned, including President Gerald Ford's pardon of President Richard Nixon after Watergate and President Jimmy Carter's pardon of Vietnam draft dodgers.

That being said, I think most would agree that those pardons were mostly deterrents against prosecution. That there werent specific cases pending in court. If Manafort wanted a pardon, the best way to do it would be to enter into a guilty plea and then get pardoned after.

However, it was after any of the crimes were committed. A pardon is not a license to do things in the future.

There's no direct temporal limit in the language of Art 2 Sec 2:

" he shall have Power to Grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment"

I'm not saying it's not a stretch, but I also wouldn't hold my breath against Trump trying something that dumb and the hack Roberts court upholding it, either. It's not a formally defined process outside of that single sentence.

My only concern is that Trump not be re-elected by means of a corrupt voting system. It's a given that undue influence will be prevalent via social media from foreign interests.

it's good that we elected a dumb racist conspiracy nut as president

The real shame of it all is that there is real human rights disasters going in the world right now.  Genocide in Myanmar, genocide in Saudi Arabia(with our help) and ethnic cleansing in Palestine.

I guess the people being killed aren't white, so it doesn't matter.

We don't get much news anymore. Just Trump and Stormy.

Paul Ryan's Super PAC got a hold of highly confidential personal information on a Dem opponent via her security clearance application for a job at the CIA and are now using it to smear her.

The SPAC is claiming they got it from a FOIA request to the US Postal Service

This is a pretty egregious fuck up on the USPS's part.
