Sox and Mariners Game thread 4/23

Featured Replies

My first thread of the young (yet seemingly very long) season. See if we can get a winning streak going here.

Fulmer (replacing the injured Migo) vs Leake

Leake struck out 7 Astros in his last start, giving up 5 runs, only allowing one walk

Mariners are 11-9

Sox Lineup:

1) Moncada

2) Avi (2 hits yesterday, see if he can keep it up)

3) Abreu

4) Delmonico

5) Beef

6) Yolmer

7) Matty D (Dude needs another 3 homer game)

8 ) Timmy

9) Ya boi Engel

Very cool to see the Seattle Mariners also hanging up a Danny Farquhar jersey

But fuck all those extra base hits, walks, stolen bases, and awesome defense, dude will be out of baseball if he doesn’t get that K rate under 30%.

Yeah, great idea to DH Yolmer and play Davidson at 3B.

Somehow Engel bought another day.  Can we bat our pitchers there instead?  Make the DH cover for the CF...couldn't be any worse.

Is that really the case? Ugh

This lineup is not good but it actually is more like it. Truthfully, as long as Yolmer is hitting about .270 I'd put him second though. And I'd put Engel on the next plane to AAA baseball. My lineup would be Moncada (I guess) ss, Yolmer 3B, Abreu 1B, Avi RF, Davidson DH, Anderson SS, Trayce CF, Jacob May or Tilson (instead of Delmonico) LF, and whoever at catcher batting ninth. I think this is our optimal lineup.

Just throw strikes Fulmer

JFC hopefully he didn't just shatter his patella.

Fuck off Engel

What did Engel do that time?

According to MLB.com, best fastball has been 94.7 and 94.8.

whew...was about to blow a fucking gasket if Timmy got hurt.

Done with Engel.

If you're going to play that shallow that better be the type of play you make.  especially when you're supposed to be an all glove CF.   Just DFA him.  He's a AAA player.

I don't think I've ever disliked a player's skillset/game as much as Engel. The dude runs fasts. He's horrible at everything else.

Hey look a nice fundamental play!

Leaving Engel up is a pretty clear example where the struggles are bleeding over to other areas of his game...doing no good having him struggle, and it's going to get someone injured when he tries to do too much to make up for his offensive ineptitude.

I'm quite sure he's a cool guy, but he isn't a MLB player at all.  You play his "lowlight" reel to teach players how not to play the game.

holy shit was that intelligent baseball out of the sox?

Fulmer with a textbook perfect rundown.

Fulmer may be frustrating but I like him. He knows how to play the game, just isn't a starter IMO

Time for Thompson at the very least to play cf

He should be pretty smart.  He played at Vanderbilt on a great college team.

Not sure Carson has any fastball command at all

just has to find a release and hope it gets in the zone. There’s enough life on his stuff if he does, that he can be effective.
