Time to see if the Astros will take a reliever or two

I'm not sure why on earth anyone would already want to trade Fry already?  He's young...coming into his own and under control.  They can trade every single person in the pen as far as I'm concerned...EXCEPT Fry.  That being said...what would be an "acceptable" return?

When it comes to a reliever, and especially one who looks like he could be a specialist, if someone offers us a Top 100 position player for him, you can put Jace on the plane as far as I am concerned.  Yes, he looks like he will be a very good reliever, but in terms of impact on a game, I am trading relievers for position players all day long.

I mean Frye has done well but his xFIP is 3.09. I don't really see teams offering a ton of prospects for unproven middle reliever who averages 93 on his FB.

Nate Jones on the otherhand...

Even a guy like Avilan sure his overall numbers aren't great and his splits aren't good either but he throws left-handed and his career numbers against LHB is dominant. Look at what the Blue Jays were able to get from the Astros for Fransisco.

If the Astros want to offer another Teoscar for Avilan I'd listen :)

I think it's unlikely that we can convince the Astros to take one of our guys, but that being said I'd love to see Tony Kemp, Tyler White or JD Davis in our lineup. Any of those 3 would be a top 5 bat instantly on our team.

"Always be trading relievers" is a very true statement due to their volatility. Fry doesn't have the track record to get you much in return at this point, we are better off keeping him.

Jones needs to step it up and he could end up being a trade candidate. Teams only really pay up for the premium set up men and closers though. Decent middle relievers are not all that expensive to acquire.

As of a few days ago, the Sox bullpen had one of the best ERA's in the game over the past month.

You really think that is going to hold up  if its even true ?  Please give a link . I know they've done much better but one of the best ? What does that even mean in your mind? top 10 of 32 teams for a whole month ? I'm fairly certain that not many of any teams are going to be beating down the Sox door and any that do won't offer much.

If you held this discussion with baseball people they'd laugh us out of the room. The Sox have no pitchers on the current roster worth a flip via trade right now. Yes I include Lopez and Gio. And Nate.

I don't think the bullpen is good.  But, like I said, as of Sunday or Monday, they had a top 3 bullpen era in the past 5-6 weeks.  I saw it in a tweet from a reputable source, can't recall who, and don't have the time or energy to find it.

I suspect the Indians series also put a dent in that numbe.r

Nate isn't going to bring much of anything. I would love an analysis of his pitching motion from ptatc. ... Gio and Lopez? I guess I wrote that post out of anger but they haven't been lighting the world on fire so to speak and need some help from Coop to go with their young arms.

What part was funny? Nate is a walking injury. I don't think many teams want to deal with him and his funky pitching motion that will result in DL unfortunately. He I'm sure is a nice guy. Gio and Lopez? I mean are you doing handstands in delight over their ability right now? If you were a GM would you trade much for them? If Hahn can get a haul for them he might go for it and try again. Lopez has looked very good at times I'll give him that.

Just keep trading players for prospects. The goal is the journey.

Indians' bullpen imploding against the Twins as we speak...

4 runs surrendered in the last 1 2/3 IP.   Have blown a seemingly insurmountable 8-0 lead in "Justin" (I'm A) Bieber start.
