  • Kopech might have tweaked something, doesn't look arm related as he's throwing 97 still.

  • Fastball command is good, as even his misses have been close enough to get hitters to think about.  I can totally see him becoming a sinker baller in the majors and not necessarily a power pitcher.

Interesting. That would kind of be like Covey no?

Jose Rodriguez in DSL, 1-3 with a BB (no ks).

The pitcher facing Charlotte tonight has some of the best stats I've ever seen

Wow no kidding

Looking at his last 10 it seems as though they are stretching him out.

The bulls are the AAA affiliate of the Rays, so maybe they are going to use him as an 'opener'.

Watching him pitch, he throws almost all fastballs 91-93. Looks to have pinpoint command

Kopech doing same thing where he misses up in the zone at 93-94.  Fastballs in the zone mostly 96-97. Slider command non-existent.

That's exactly what they are doing/have been doing with him.

Explosive low fastballs by Kopech for two strikeouts looking

What game are you watching? Durham gun has him at 95-99 for every pitch, and he had 0-2 counts on at least 2 of those 4 batters in the 2nd inning, getting both on strikeouts in the zone. His command just just fine to me, as his only walk was from nibbling.

Thanks for the accurate velocities all.

Robert 1-1, BB

Curbelo with a hit. Kid is adjusting well now.

Boldt just took Cease yard.

The 2nd inning he definitely had three at 93-94. Announcers even gave him credit for 93 after the walk.

From someone watching him warm up before game, his command was good except 1 pitch.  Better than what he saw earlier in year.

Eloy two hard hit grounders so far. He's going to be a monster when he learns to elevate.

Velocity definitely lower when he pitches up in the zone. Roberto Pena just turned around 95 up for first hit against him.

Kopech hulked up against middle of order, good fastball command so far

Kopech surviving completely off of his fastball, and he's commanding it well. When he's missing, he's mostly missing high with it and the hitters are swinging at it.

Escaped a lucky double (Chest high fastball inside that the batter tomahawked down the line for a double), and a walk in which he was very close on a couple of pitches to Hazelbaker.

2 more strikeouts. He's got 5 through 3 IP.

5 K's already, 32 of 49 for strikes.

Players are running all over Cease. He's pretty slow to home.

Kopech is working really fast, as the announcers have pointed out. He's getting it and throwing it, probably 12-15 seconds between pitches.

so kopechs breaking stuff looks weak right now? or he just cant locate it?

Just doesn't seem to be fooling anyone like he used to, but that's called AAA ball and not lower level.  Not good swings against it though when it's been close, but not a swing and miss pitch. Of the 10 he's thrown though, 5 missed the play by a foot.

Thanks for the good updates. Looks like I will need to go back and rewatch this one.
