August 19, 20187 yr Rebuilding or not, this guy is a garbage ass coach. He constantly makes questionable decisions. He makes himself look like an ass regularly with his hustle rules. They can't keep this dude as manager. It's time. Edited August 19, 20187 yr by Hot FiRe
August 19, 20187 yr He’s probably on a three yr deal, and that’ll be it after 2019. Chances are the next Sox manager is Omar Vizquel and he’ll take over in 2020.
August 19, 20187 yr The problems with this organization are systemic and run far deeper than the manager.
August 19, 20187 yr “I actually think the deck chairs would look nicer over there, by the Titanic’s railing.”
August 19, 20187 yr Yeah the hustle rule is kind of a joke.. I like the concept, but in practice makes no sense. I saw about 10 instances last night where guys were not running nearly as hard as they could have.. and the plays were much more beatable than Avi's meaningless pop out. But the real issue is the in game strategy - even though managers don't mean that much, he hurts the team on a regular basis with fast pitch softball tactics.
August 19, 20187 yr Ricky does need to go. The use of the bullpen, the constant bunting, the pulling guys on questionable plays, and the two most important guys in the lineup (Moncada and Anderson) being shuffled around the lineup. I've had enough of this crap. Give me Justin Jirchele.
August 19, 20187 yr Hard to fault Renteria for bullpen usage. I think Hahn has purposely given him the worst collection of right handers in the league. Hamilton, Burr, Ruiz, Zach Thompson, Fulmer, Frare, and Bummer would be every bit as “good” as what they’re running out there now, they just don’t want to bring any of them up. When Minaya, a guy who walks about a man an inning, is your best RHP in the pen, nothing is tactics.

Last year when they had a functioning pen in the first half, he and Coop used it fine. Their problem in both the pen and the rotation is that they need better pitchers. Which is, again, why I would hold onto Rodon, the only good pitcher they have.
August 19, 20187 yr If firing Ricky will sate the lynch-mob that SoxTalk has become for even a few weeks, then fine. It won't solve anything, of course, but whatever. I gotta be honest, when I was bracing myself for the pain of going through the rebuild, I didn't think SoxTalk would be harder to deal with than watching the crappy games. This place has become miserable.
August 19, 20187 yr Just now, Timmy U said: Absolutely. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Last year when they had a functioning pen in the first half, he and Coop used it fine. In the short period of time where Ricky had a few dependable relievers he also used it fine this season. His problem is that he has had some historically bad pens for periods of time.
August 19, 20187 yr About the only thing I object to with Rick's bullpen usage is having three or sometimes four guys used to get through an inning.
