December 5, 20187 yr Wasn’t Goldschmidt having a tough time catching up to fastballs the first couple of months last season? Obviously he turned it around, so it most likely was mechanical. But it does make you wonder moving forward.
December 6, 20187 yr Theory: The sox were so confident after the November 19th meeting with harper that they have shifted their total focus to him and thus not quite as active in the starting pitching market.
December 6, 20187 yr reports on twitter that Tampa was trying to get Goldschmidt also. Wonder if they turn their attention to Nelson Cruz now, or even possibly Abreu? I know I mentioned him in the creative trades thread, but Jose Martinez would be a great DH for someone.
December 6, 20187 yr I hear Heyman reported the Reds are in after Pollock and Keuchel, has anyone else seen that?

December 6, 20187 yr What a gross deal for Carrasco, and great deal for the Tribe. I did not, however, realize Carrasco will be pitching next season at age 32.

I should have elaborated whitesoxwinner that's my bad. I disagree with the part about them not pursuing pitching and focusing on Harper. They're on other players that aren't Harper and would include pitcher. I am not sure how much there is to do with Harper. Obviously it's one of the sport's biggest if not the biggest free agent pursuit ever. It's this or A-Rod back in the early 2000's. Regardless, Boras and/or Harper control the pace. I think the Sox just have a waiting game with sporadic efforts towards due diligence to make sure they're not getting played. I think most of the heavy lifting is done. I knew I was probably wrong. I could see them also focusing on a guy like Dallas Keuchel, for instance. Do you think Boras will convince harper not to sign next week and wait some more?
