White Sox All-Washed Up Team

Featured Replies

Even though Santana is only a year removed from a decent season, I can't help to think that the Sox FO loves getting older, washed up veterans.  Imagine all these guys in their primes:

C- Sandy Alomar Jr.

1B- Adam Dunn or Justin Morneau

2B- Roberto Alomar

SS- Jimmy Rollins

3B- Todd Frazier

LF- Manny Ramirez

CF- Ken Griffey Jr.

RF- Jose Canseco

SP- Ervin Santana

Bench- Melky Cabrera

Bench-Kevin Youkilis

Bench: Kenny Lofton

Feel free to add more.  These are just the names off the top of my head.

Manny Ramirez, Kenny Lofton and Ken Griffey Jr are obvious misses.

You could easily fill up your OF with Manny Ramirez in LF and The Kid in CF...

Damnit.  I could have sworn I put them down.  I'll update it now.

Completely forgot about Lofton.

Erstad has to make the team.

Latos

Linebrink

Koch

Swisher?

Remember when they concluded Mark Kotsay was a better option than Jim Thome? That was awesome.

Ya Kotsay.

Shields.

Ah that leads me to saying Andruw Jones and Omar Vizquel.

In 10 years: Manny Machado

Edit: sorry, I just had to

Hard for me to say this because of his playoff heroics, but... Orlando Hernandez?

No. It will be 8. The years they didn't want to guarantee.

Or will it be "5", the opt-out they didn't want to give?

Guys, Adam Dunn made an All-Star team while here.

I know it's easy to forget, but like, come on. And Frazier was just fine. Half of this list is just to moan about recent acquisitions.

JR and the entire front office.

Do the LaRoche boys count?

He was awful in 2011, but from that point on, Dunn's performance was pretty much in line with what he was being paid to do.

Dunn's highest BA here was .219.   His second best was .204

Even thought he's not known for his average, those numbers are horrid.

Frazier batted .225 and .213 with the Sox.

Again, Power numbers are up but those averages are a disaster

Shields is your ace.

Jaime Navarro laughs in your general direction, and then wonders why you didn't score him 10 runs to cover the 9 he gave up.

The BA’s might have been low, but Q is right, you yourself created this topic and titled it “The all washed up Team”

I wouldn’t put Dunn and Frazier on that list with the Sox. They wern’t “Washed up” like we saw guys like Rollins, Youk, Manny, etc. Those guys really were on their last legs

I can see the argument for Frazier, but not Dunn.  You can't go from batting around .250 for most of your career then bat .220 for the rest of your career without regressing.

Steve Carlton.  Ron Santo.

George Foster. Harold Baines part 3. Oscar Gamble part 2.  Chris Sabo. John Kruk.

Todd Ritchie?  He was probably never good enough to be considered washed up.
