2019 Prospect Injury Hit List

Featured Replies

Given our prospects are dropping like flies and it isn’t even March yet, I figured we should maintain a list of key injuries so that we can quickly identify which prospects have managed to survive the 2018 / 2019 onslaught (so far) and are somehow healthy for the time being.

  • 02) Kopech, RHP - TJS / out for year
  • 06) Dunning, RHP - TJS / out for year
  • 07) Adolfo, OF - TJS / status TBD (throwing wise)
  • 09) Basabe, OF - Hand injury / out 12 weeks
  • 13) Burdi, RHP - Lat injury / delayed start to season
  • 14) Burger, 3B - Achilles injury / out 2 to 3 months
  • 20) Johnson, RHP - Lat injury / delayed start to season
  • NR) Puckett - TJS / out for year

Please let me know if I’m missing anyone of importance.

Get why you opened the thread - does this fit the Futuresox forum more than PHT?

Yes, if you don’t mind moving it there, it would be a better location.

My understanding is that Adolfo and Burger should both be assigned around May/June.

I wonder why Adolfo would be delayed considering we've seen him in spring training games already.

why?

No.

He is hitting, but the throwing part is just getting underway. It is possible they could assign him and DH him for the first month or two instead.

Thanks, so I assume Adolfo won’t be DHing to start the season?

Last I heard they want him 100% before assignment this year, but clearly the DH option exists and they could explore it. I haven't heard anything on the topic in recent weeks.

Not looking good for Dunning...FML

AJ Puckett, whom the Sox got for Melky Cabrera, had TJS tonight. Add him to the list.

He hasn't pitched since 2017. And now it looks like he won't pitch again until maybe the end of 2020. Yikes. He was drafted 1 spot after Bo Bichette and 3 spots after Peter Alonso in the 2nd RD in 2016.

Yikes. I feel for Puckett. A shame as he was definitely an underrated guy. Sox looking like they've picked up the Bulls medical staff recently (Hi Jerry...)

He’s been added!

Bumped...sounds like Burdi had a lat injury earlier in camp and won’t start with Charlotte until late April.

Add Tyler Johnson to the list.

I missed this one. What's the injury?

Lat injury like Burdi.  Doesn’t sound overly serious, but will miss a few weeks to start the season.
