Hopefully Santana's first start was more shaking off the rust.  He needs to eat innings and be moderately effective, like Nova was the other day.

This time he will be Supernatural .

Always remember the money Hahn spent on these bums. $4.3 million for Ervin Santana $9 million for Yonder Alonso $4 million for Jon Jay who isn’t even near playing $17+ million wast

  • 16 games of Royals, Tigers, and Orioles.  Here's your shot, guys.

  • Yep.  Need like an 11-5 stretch, though that seems like a pipedream.

Yes, he missed first half of the year with a broken collarbone.  Wasn't really ever able to get his groove back upon his return.

To be fair, he was absolutely horrific before his broken collarbone, but I agree with the rest of your statement.

Don't underestimate KC.   They just swept 3 from Cleveland.  They're 4th in the AL in runs scored (while the Sox have the 2nd worst pitching staff in the AL).

They also lead the AL in fielding, with a total of 3 errors in 15 games.  Hell, we have a couple of guys who have more than that all by themselves.

This series is definitely not a given.

If the Sox win today they will ?

The key beating KC is to  keep the speed merchants off the bases.

In like 10 games

That’s true, but he was striking out like 40% to 50% of the time during that stretch.  He legit looked horrible when I watched him (again SSS).  That being said, I was a huge fan of his coming into the 2018 season and I’m all for giving him an extended opportunity at this point.

Oy. Santana throwing 87-88 today.

How many more starts do you give him before replacing him with Banuelos in the rotation?

Three pitches in and you can already tell it‘s gonna be a long night.

Santana’s beard is worse than he is

Biggest discrepancy between the quality of the beard and the pitcher has to be Blake Snell. That thing is an abomination.

Real nice DP there. Hopefully that gives Santana some confidence and saves some pitches for him. Dude needs to throw strikes.

Yonders purpose on this team is to demonstrate how awful Abreu is at first

KC manager loves to let his guys steal. Lets hope Ricky takes notes (last game was encouraging in that regard).

Yes, so they can justify not re-signing him when this season is finished. I like Abreu, but I hope they move him at the TDL if he gets himself going this year.

Sox probably have more team speed overall than the Royals do, but Ricky doesn't let them run.

Garcia, Anderson, Moncada and Engel are all really fast, to say the least. That being said, Engel isn't on base all that much. Yolmer has decent speed too.

How is that Goose Island section doing at 100 bucks a seat? Anybody sat out there yet? Is it going to make it?

Eh, not really sure there is a better 1B out there to get, and not like we have one waiting in the wings.

Do the Sox strike out too much or is this modern baseball? Home run or K is all hitters want?

That is an error, folks.

He's not a 1B anymore, he's a DH.

They strike out too much

You know Jose was hustling down the line there thinking “fuck that Ron dude”.

That was a gift from the scorer
