Colome remains with White Sox, who always had ample interest in him

I feel like, if you're trading with the Brewers, the likely targets are one of Drew Rasmussen or Aaron Ashby.  Not sure you get much more than that unless it's both Colome and Nova.

  • my only philosophy on baseball (as a young person) is that old players like colome are useless (as are saves, since I am a statnik) and should be force retired. If that's not possible, flipping them i

  • I'd say put a silly value on him and if teams dont meet it just keep him.

Yah, that 60 at bat sample size really tells us all we need to know there.

Trent Grisham has been trending up and might make sense.

Yeah, I've always liked him because he walks, but not sure we'd be able to get him and I think our system desperately needs to add pitching.

You can’t trade him just to trade someone. You have to acquire someone who will help you actually win. Not the Ryan Cordells, and Charlie Tilsons and Casey Gillespies of the world. It’s fine going after those types when trading guys that won’t be around next year is the cost. But the Sox are going to need a lot of relievers next year if they hope to not suck, and Coloma fits the bill. The price has to be high.

The Sox aren't going anywhere. Where are the trades?

There are some pitchers I'd love to get but might require creativity. Package a couple of our guys and/or take back some salary. Bet Phils would love to unload Dave Robertson (signed through 2020). They've got a couple of pitchers, such as Spencer Howard to ponder. Maybe Colome for Howard and Robertson. Maybe Robertson will return to health and form and Sox can move him next year.

I agree in principle, which is why I probably wouldn’t trade him.  Did everyone see what the Royals got for Diekman?  Not much.

A 32-year old with a 4.75 era and 2 months of control? Seems comparable.

So Twins get Romo for middling first base prospect Diaz and have to include a minor league pitcher to do it.  These reliever deals don’t seem to be what they used to be.

Sergio Romo is 36 years old and not really good.

Keep holding your breath for that top prospect you think someone is giving up for Colome.

If the White Sox trade Colome, they won't get much more than a middle of the road prospect.

If they want prospects back, they could combine Colome/Bummer for a nicer return.

Farmio said last night he doesn’t believe the Sox are even discussing a Coloma trade.

Agreed.  “He doesn’t believe...”

The same guy who said, “He’s on the team for next year!!!”  ?

Today feels like moving day.  I think the Giants hold on to Smith now that they are in contention, and Yates and Vazquez don't get moved because the asking price is too high.  The returns on trades haven't been great so far, but lots of teams still need bullpen help and the reliever market seems to be thinning out a bit.  Giles is probably the top guy that gets moved, then Colome, Greene, Kennedy, and Givens.  Teams that really want a lefty reliever (Dodgers) could make a really nice offer for Bummer.

Looks like jays are definitely going to be the team that jump the market, committed to getting what they can for their ml pieces now and not being too concerned with getting what they believed fair market was.

Definitely, and I don’t think it’s a bad strategy either.  I didn’t think their return for 1.5 years of Stroman was that that bad.

Ken Giles and Daniel Hudson are next.  Hudson, what a good/lucky pickup he was...

I don’t get the impression that either radio guy has any idea what the hell is going on behind the scenes.

Maybe Bennetti and stone do, but not DJ and certainly not Farmio.

Yeah can we get an updated title?

Doubt the Phillies would be willing to trade Spencer Howard in a Colome deal, but that's who I would ask for.

Lol at the title change.
