It's That Time Of The Year Again...

Nice to see the Angels won too. Looking like 8 or 9.

Tigers clinched the first pick last night. The doubleheader with them on Friday might get rained out. Saturday and Sunday have some rain too.

Definitely in a spot where this series isn't meaningful and it doesn't matter if they don't play one or two of the games.

  • Early disclaimer...if you don’t care about the draft, that’s fine....but don’t ruin this thread.  Thanks

  • A high pick in what looks to be a very strong draft class is very desirable. Go tank go.

  • There is also a 2020 draft thread here for those that are interested in talking players.

Whatever helps the Sox is good with me, but don't be surprised if MLB makes them play two Saturday and Sunday to get every game in.

Padres lost. Percentage points better than the Sox.

Rockies down 4-3 in the 8th

Sox need to go 2-3 and hope for 9th, or enough rain that helps in some way.

Edited by flavum

That happened, and the Sox move to 10th.

Angels up 3-0, top 4

Feels like the Sox always win a bunch of meaningless games right at the end.

Angels beat the Astros in 12 last night, so that’s good.

A series split with the Tigers ensures the 10th pick, at least.

Pirates actually won three in a row and the Sox win 2 v the Indians....ugh

Rockies won.

Pirates won. (Cincy lost)

Padres tanked a loss. (Lamb hit a pinch hit 3 run homer)

Angels lost.

Too bad tonight's game didn't go 5 innings. Would've been a MAJOR tank loss.

9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th

A rainout Sunday would eliminate the 12th possibility.

Padres ahead of the Sox now.

1/2 game “ahead” of LAA starting GM 2, Cincy 1 1/2 ahead and delayed at Pitt.

Angels facing Verlander.

It's likely now that the Padres will pick ahead of the Sox. Who would have thought that in March?

As soon as they decided to shut down Tatis and Paddack, the writing was on the wall.  They've been playing a couple of their marginal/fringe minor leaguers a lot down the stretch as well.

But yeah, for most of the first half, they were anywhere from 6 games over .500 to 3-5 games under, going back and forth like a yo-yo but at least competitive/respectable.

Angels up 3-0 on Verlander. LA win gives the Sox the 10th pick. (min)

Padres winning as well. Outside shot at #9 if they win tonight and tomorrow.

Yep. If the Padres win both, and the Sox lose or get rained out Sunday, they’ll get the higher pick.

If they get rained out tomorrow how do they handle a 72-90 vs a 71-89?

.44375 is lower than .4444. We win.

Not bad, I predicted 9th at the beginning of this thread when most thought top 5. I'm happy with this result. A top 5 pick would have meant not getting the positive development out of our young rebuild guns like we've gotten. This is a way better result for the Sox and their future.

Just.lose.baby! F*** you @greg775!

Damn you, Christian Walker

And the Astros take the lead. Here comes 11.

Padres lost. Sox will be picking 10th or 11th.

Great. The Padres get another chance to steal a player the Sox want. Which they undoubtedly will.

Wait do you mean "how do they handle it?" You would just look at the percentages.

Sunday:

Sox pick 10th with a loss or rainout, or Angels win

Sox pick 11th with win and Angels loss

Astros clinched home field through the World Series, so they won’t be playing for anything tomorrow in Anaheim.
