Sox finish the week with the 9th pick position, half game better than the Pirates.  Sox a have a few game cushion on the Reds at 10.

  • Early disclaimer...if you don’t care about the draft, that’s fine....but don’t ruin this thread.  Thanks

  • A high pick in what looks to be a very strong draft class is very desirable. Go tank go.

  • There is also a 2020 draft thread here for those that are interested in talking players.

Mariners won, Pirates won (they're playing Colorado so it doesn't matter who wins really in that matchup)... Sox aren't far away at all from leapfrogging those teams. Reds are winning so far as well so Sox can put more distance from them too.

Looks like the Sox are 9th now. A sustained losing streak could take them as high as 6, but I don't think they're catching the top 5.

If the Indians fall back in the wildcard over the next 10 days, the Sox could have their last 22 games against teams that aren’t playing for anything.

I’m just assuming they’ll go 14-8 for 76-86, and the 11-13th pick range.

I've read that 2020 draft is very deep. Will probably get a good prospect even at 13. Might be the time for a high school pick.

Just looked at some of the remaining schedules of the 8 to 14 teams. These three games with the Sox are the Angels last games against an under-.500 team. They’re toast.

I think the Sox finish with a better record than the Pirates, Angels, Reds, and Padres and get the 12th pick.

But if the Rangers and Giants tank too, it could be as low as 14th if the Sox go 14-8, with the easiest schedule by far.

The Sox aren't going 14-8.

9th with 3 weeks left.

8- Sox 64-82 (3 at Sea, 3 at Min, 3 at Det, 3 vs Cle, 4 vs Det)

9- Pit 65-82 (3 at Cubs, 3 vs Sea, 3 at Mil, 3 vs Cubs, 3 vs Cin)

Being top 10 in the draft doesn't have any meaning anymore, correct? Or is it just less of a penalty?

I'll be at one of the games front row behind Sox dugout calling for Rickie to be shitcanned.  Can't wait.

You don't give up your first round picking sign a free agent with a QO attached.

That's how it used to work, but that's changed now.

For the White Sox, they would lose their "2nd highest pick" and $500K of INT'L money. If they sign another QO player, they lose their 3rd highest pick and another $500K of INT'L money.

9th, but same in the win column with Rockies and Pirates.

Just going to remind everyone that there is a massive difference in slot money drafting 6th vs. 9th.

If they lose two spots because of one game, I’m blaming Gerrit Cole’s hamstring.

This draft is loaded from what everybody is saying.  Bonus pool money will be huge, come on Sox lose every game left.

Think it would be another 500-750K maybe a bit more.

Every once in a while you have to tank.

Mariners play a 3 game series against the Pirates tonight. Depending on how that series goes, Sox can put sone distance on the Pirates or catch the Mariners soon.

Mariners also play the terrible Orioles after the Pirates series.

People forget, a  few of years under the Rick Hahn regime, the Sox got the 3rd pick in the draft, the 8th pick,  and the 10th pick when they were trying to win. Tanking has only slightly moved the draft position needle,
