8/6 | Sox @ Tigers GM1 | Cease vs Norris | 12:10pm CT

Featured Replies

Too bad the same growing pains Cease is having this year will be repeated with Kopech and Dunning next year.  I just hope the Sox realize that with the right breaks 2020 can work out for them if they make additions in the offseason to fill the hole in RF and rotation.   Need at least 2 SP and 2 good bats.

Eloy in between

He needs to be able to hit the fastball. He’s been blown away by them this year.  No one is going to be a stellar offspeed hitter at this stage.

That's not necessarily true. Probable? Maybe, but I wouldn't anticipate Kopech not being able keep his fastball within six inches of the top of the zone.

Yolmer please go

That ball took like 3 seconds to get through the infield

Thought I read his OPS is around .400 against “hard throwers”

Yesterday the Ray's got shutout by the Blue Jay's and the Yankees won a competitive game against Baltimore in which the score was tied going into the 8th inning.

If it's "Ray's" and "Blue Jay's", why isn't it "Yankee's"^_^

Tigers are now 7 - 38 in their last 45 games. Sox need to sweep them!

And we thought losing 16 out of 20 after the break was bad.

Sox need to go only 12-39 the rest of the way to match last year's record.:)

Half way to 100 wins!!

Could not catch any of the game....Cease got the win but how did he look?  I'll hang up and listen,,,thanks.

if only we could play Detroit every game.

There was a really good article about Steiver and the pitching coach Matt Zaleski. He said that he really worked with Cease to throw high 4 seamers and to increase his spin rate so it stays there. He is working with Steiver on the same thing and this is why he is having more success. My concern is that Cease got away with that in the minors but at the MLB level the hitters aren't chasing it as often and now he needs to learn to pitch down in the zone again.
