Oh ffs.

I love that kind of urgency.  It sure worked well last offseason and with Wheeler this offseason.  ?

Sensed a little attitude with Hahn to Levine at the start. Was fun to watch.

Seriously, I have no idea what you want the guy to say. You're losing it pal.

Hahn's the lip service master. Just tune his bullshit out.

Actions speak louder than words.

The Grandal signing worked cuz they struck while the iron was hot.

Slow-playing the market has resulted in epic fails for Hahn.

What premium talent has been talked about in a Mookie deal?

There hasn't been any.  But you wouldn't get him for Rutherford.

I wonder what Bruce asked lol. Hahn didn't look thrilled.

Something along the lines of “we are committed to hit on our targets whether it be now or next week. We are currently doing what we can” or something. “No urgency” is stupid when the market is moving at a lightning pace and your targets keep falling off the board.

He’s not going to say ‘We’re looking to get everything done by Thursday.’ That would be stupid. No idea what you were expecting him to say.

He did say that.

Snell, Kiermier, and Meadows for Madrigal, Cease, Vaughn, Lopez, Collins and Engel

You can’t throw Engel in there as well. That’s too much.

But what number WOULD have worked for Wheeler, assuming he ever was serious about coming to Chicago and not using them for leverage?

$130 million?  $135?  $140?

At a certain point, once you reach your valuation and go well over it by 10-15%, you have no choice but to walk away...especially if the guy's coming to a place (Chicago) where he's already anticipating not being happy.

Why would you want that attitude on your team...or his wife/fiance bringing down the other Sox wives?

I'm kind of joking about the last part...but we've spent months concerned about Bumgarner not necessarily being a great fit with this current clubhouse and coaching staff.  It's obviously a consideration at SOME level, for both sides.

Sure did.  Sounded like Rick snapped back at Bruce.

Some of yall are ridiculous. Hahn's comments to the media were fine. They are the standard nothing answers all GMs give to the media. Yeesh.

The signings of Wheeler and Strasburg are just increasing the dollars that the remaining FA starters receive.  Just look at the rumored dollars for MadBum.

And what the hell did Wheeler’s fiancé do to make you say that?  That is a far leap from wanting to be close to her family.

"I learned in my time at Kellogg, Ann Arbor and Cambridge NEVER to react emotionally or make moves just to make moves.  It's just as true in the stock market as it is in professional sports.  So the White Sox are never going to be an irrationally exuberant organization from an economic standpoint, and that's always been our historical pattern.  But we are going to be exuberant about supplementing our young core with the "best fit" veteran players at the correctly-assessed valuations, allowing us the comfort zone to make generous contract extension offers to Nick, Luis, Lucas and Yoan."

Why would a house in the million dollar range impact the price of a house in the 1/2 million dollar range?

The price of Stras and Cole have no impact on the price of mid-tier players, imo. Those two are independent of each other. Cole is being paid a premium because of how rare he is.

Bruce said something about San Diego to start, I wonder if it was a Tatis joke lol

How confident are you today that Keuchel will only get $45-50 million, Ryu $54-60 million and Bumgarner $70-80 million???

Those were the universally-expected rates coming into this off-season if you aggregated all the predictions from different outlets.

Supply and demand.  Wheeler’s contract didn’t impact MadBum’s price?  Almost every MLB reporter would disagree and I’m sure you can find numerous tweets about it.

If anyone impacted Bumgarners price it was Wheeler, not Strasburg or Cole.

Wheeler is in the same price range as Bumgarner.

The universally expected rate for wheeler was 4/80. What does any of that matter? I thought all of them would get more than the "expected rate." It doesn't mean Strasburg effects the market of a guy tiers below him.
