December 11, 20196 yr This seems exactly like the kind of desperate all-in move we’d see from the White Sox one year from now if they don’t finish with over 80 wins. Right now, the front office and local media can still probably sell the fanbase on this as one last “transition” year to competitiveness. Edited December 11, 20196 yr by caulfield12
December 11, 20196 yr It depends. On one hand, it would be doing yankees a favor. One good thing we've learned is the lux tax is real and effective, and with the cole deal the yankees will have to dance with it in the coming years. So in theory that leaves players the sox can go for in FA. In theory, in practice they just can't seem to do it. So then there's him. Severely flawed but the potential to be so productive. I don't know though, I actually have more reservations on a long term deal with him than basically anyone else. He really could become difficult to shed if he starts to physically deteriorate as maybe was the case last year.
December 11, 20196 yr Only thing that keeps me from punching this idea in the balls is the fact that Stanton had a historically insane season when he worked with Frank Menechino. But yeah, outside that, too much money, too many injury bugs.
December 11, 20196 yr Wouldn't do it. He misses 30-50 games every season and with age that will get worse.
