  • My girls team won their third straight tournament and won a season long championship. We start the state playoffs next week. The defending state champs are in our district, were hoping for the second

  • So the past three weeks to get back into a little golf shape I've been bringing my 8 iron to practice and hitting a few shots between coaching.  I was sitting on a par three that was playing about 148

Great tournament, though.  A Lim Kim (never heard of her) birdied the last three holes to win by one.  I believe that most golf tournaments are lost, but this one was won.  She played wearing a N-95 m

I really feel bad for the marquee players who defended the PGA. They look really foolish right now.

All the money stuff in golf and sports in general  is really starting to wear me down to the point of not following millionaires fighting with each other on who should have more millions. I'm following college golf and USGA events more.

Two 62's.  Two aces.  What the hell man?!?  This is the US Open.  Tighten that s%*# up!

That's what I was thinking. Each major has it's own personality and making par matter is The US Open. Low scoring, player friendly is the PGA. The Masters is all about playing the same great course. THE OPEN is all about links and history. The John Deere Quad Cities is about not being a major lol.

Although I think scoring should fit the venue. If you play it at LACC tricking it up for even par would destroy what that course is.

Long 36 holes day yesterday, back for 18 today. Great field. The defending team champions of three of the Texas six high school divisions are here. Lots of under par rounds. My top two are at 153 and 154 which is about 20th place of 100+ girls. Both can play better. My #1 just win a junior tour event last week.

My assistant couldn't attend so I'm doing double duty. Exhausted.

It kills me to say this but Jordan Spieth is freakin useless right now.  This is an ass whoppin.

Why did Johnson tell him to hit 3 wood, the only guy that can reach that green with 3 wood is Rory and he just did. What a joke Johnson is as captain.

I agree, he had a lousy year as did his partner Justin Thomas.

It was an odd thing to do but I don't think it mattered.  Jordan didn't hit a good drive all day. He would've messed that shot up too.

Cantlay! Nerves of steel.

Cantlay was super winning the last match on his own as he made 3 birdies on the last 3 holes, what a clutch putt on 18 to win the match.

Still a slight chance to win the Cup tomorrow if we win a bunch of the early matches and put some pressure on the Euros.

Europe wins the 2023 Ryder Cup 16.5-11.5, this tournament was lost by the Americans on Friday and Saturday morning when the Euros built a huge lead that was just too much to make up.  With an hour to go the Americans still had a small chance, they needed to win the last 5 matches and were leading 3 of them but just couldn't pull it off.

This was so much more fun when they didn't include the rest of Europe.

Earlier this month one of my former players completed her first stage of Q School pre-qualifying for the LPGA Tour and is advancing to the finals. She'll either be on the Epson or LPGA tours.

Another one of my former players is featured in the fall issue of the USGA Golf Journal for her work with adaptive golf (page 66) . It is such an obvious fit for her passion to help others and golf.

Fun time today in the heat. Seven freshman playing their first tournament. Nice clean hats, no sweat stains on the uniforms yet. Their excitement is contagious.

We have three JV tournaments next week. Hopefully we won't be touching 100 degrees like today. I sometimes can't believe how lucky I am to share my love of the game with these kids.

Tournament today. 30 mph winds. Lol. Better coaching than playing

Good for Rory.  I was unaware so few golfers had won the grand slam.  That's impressive.

Another great Masters week.  So happy for Rory but would have been equally happy for Rosey.  What he did yesterday was incredible.

Especially Palmer...three seconds in the PGA.

Mickelson and Spieth each one major away.

McIlroy simply hit three amazing approach/iron shots and that was enough...really expected a bogey on 17 or 18 after Rose miraculously birdied the final hole.

Five shot lead blown...and seven over Rose starting the day.

Crazy.

And that's Rose's second playoff loss, other was to Garcia.

I'm the guy that keeps posting that most golf tournaments are lost, not won.  Today was an exception.  Woulda been right both ways if Justin had come through.

That's why I will always remain amazed that time where Tiger had the streak of consecutive majors won when he was leading going into the final round and that obscure South Korean golfer knocked him off out of nowhere.
