Thing is ... people won't acknowledge that mean, selfish Greg has actually been a responsible citizen. I've obeyed all government orders here. I have sheltered as much as anybody else. And I wear my mask where it's required for certain and I put it on out of respect if I see those working in the stores have theirs on. I have been a good citizen through all this. My contact with human beings has been very minute until the past week or so. I've noticed traffic is much greater now and things are opening up. Our spike will be incredible when the students come back. Douglas County has had so so so few cases so far here.

I am 100 percent for my $1 million reparations plan. I think it would go a long ways toward making up for slavery and appeasing future riots, etc. Again ... a million bucks per family should get almost everybody on their feet and out of poverty and feel like America is truly righting a wrong. If $1 million per individual and/or family isnt' enough, I don't know what to say about that. Make the wealthiest individuals pay as much of the tax as we deem possible, then print the rest of the money and the economy deals with it later.

How come nobody is commenting on my reparations plan? Can you imagine the debates? Trump is going to be against reparations. Biden for them. Specifics, Joe? Can you imagine if he says, $5000 per family or something? That's why I say $1 million. It's indisputably fair. Anything Joe promises is going to be very very insulting folks. 2000 dollars? Cmon.

I realize of course some places won't comply, but I am also OK with some enforcement around that against businesses that don't follow the rules. Take away a few liquor or food licenses, publicize the hell out of the enforcement, and you will get a lot of places staying in line (though not all I am sure). Churches get a little more dicey that way but I think most, other than the megachurches run by money grubbers, will stick with it.

 

I don't know that we have strong evidence that capacity limits are enough here. I'm definitely avoiding any indoor spaces for prolonged periods where people are going to be talking a lot.

 

edit: of course come August my wife will likely be back to in-person teaching and my kids will be in daycare so our family's potential exposure will increase 10000% from current levels

High School Graduation 2020

Well we are holding our graduation over three days. Basically a student arrives and they stay in their cars with their family until all of their guests arrive, We escorted them to the cafeteria where we had a screening program set up. If anyone in their group had a temperature of 100 or above the group was escorted out of the building and a lot of disinfection happened in that area.

We moved to the auditorium one family at a time with a photographer set up. The graduate walked across the stage while the family watched from the center aisle, heard their name announced, took a couple picture. We exited the other side, took one more photo with our bigger than life size bronco and they were quickly, but respectfully whisked off campus. 

Most families were in and out within fifteen minutes.

This is happening a ton in US care facilities, as well as prisons, we have just done a great job of ignoring it just like the rest of the death toll here.

It’s going to take massive K-12 and university closures, or a complete shutdown of NCAA and NFL to get the public’s sustained attention back again.

I just wonder what the logic is for this threat. I'm sure they have ban smoking from the buildings. Isn't that basically the same thing? 

 

When I first started working, there was smoking in the office. It was awful. Then that stopped. More recently, they cut it from restaurants and bars, and the initial feedback was everyone was going out of business. This is going to kill the industry, much like you get with anything seemingly more on safety's side than not during this pandemic. Now, no one cares. In face, even smokers get it. They don't even smoke in the homes anymore. They go outside. Watching some in cars is funny with all the windows open, their arm with their cigarette hanging out. Trying to blow the smoke away from the inside.

What's your favorite White Sox-related memory?

I believe this is irrelevant to the discussion, however, if necessary, I could obviously point to the 2005 World Series.  Perhaps it would be more appropriate to share something more unique:

How about in September 1993, when I was fairly young and my parents put me to bed before most White Sox games had concluded.  I remember laying in bed, awake, and hearing the TV on in our living room.  I heard the call of Bo Jackson's home run to put the Sox up and likely clinch the AL West.  I remember waking up the next morning and receiving the confirmation on the radio that the Sox had indeed won, via"WMAQ ALL NEWS 67" as I ate my breakfast before school.

How about all of the Sox games my Dad took me to, despite him being relatively indifferent to baseball or sports in general, because he was being a good dad.  We would park at what is now known as "Morrie O'Malley's".  I remember getting excited as we would walk down 35th toward the park, you knew you were close when you went under the railroad overpass and heard the street vendor's music.

Again, this is irrelevant to the conversation.
