Moncada, Ruiz placed on 10-day IL

Honestly, he is going to be the starting 3B if he only has 1 day of practice provided he’s healthy. This lineup can/will cover down for him if he struggles early getting into the swing of things and the upside that he brings far outweighs the idea of easing him into the lineup and playing a guy like Mendick or Cuthbert at 3rd base whose production would probably be about what Moncada gives you during a slow start anyways.

Not to mention, if he's really *that* rusty, this lineup is so stacked that you could just shift him from 2 to like 7/8 and let him ramp up. Like you said, his worst days would still be the same or better than the best of Cuthbert types

Jack - I’m honestly not trying to be a dick, but are you completely insane?  Do you recall yourself panicking over a bunch of Moncada strikeouts to start spring training?  If anyone is going to freak

  • No you definitely said he is mostly dead and not coming back for 16 months

  • to blave!!

Eye on the TV because tragedy thrills me, whatever the favor happens to be.

Don’t know who this guy is but I guess we will see if he’s back tomorrow or not

Is it too much to ask that Yoan get in for at least an inning in tomorrow's scrimmage?

And how rusty is he really likely to be compared to the others?  I mean, if he's asymptomatic it's not like he's in a hospital bed.  I'd expect he's staying in shape and maybe even taking BP.  And it's not like these others guys have been together for months.  Sure, it would be better if he'd had a week and a half of extra practice and intrasquad, but the difference between his situation and others' is just not that great.

Moncada officially back.

Hope he can play tonight but I doubt it.

If he's back in camp I don't see why not. Get him used to live pitching again as fast as possible.
