World Series- Dodgers vs Rays

For the record, WGN dumped live sports and not the other way around.

That said, that has absolutely zero to do with how many people tuned in to see two completely different teams not from Chicago. But nice stretch to bring JR into something that was absolutely nothing to do with Chicago baseball.

No other stations exist in Chicago?

JR / EE did not destroy the parody Sox and Cubs fans shared here until they nuked it with their On-TV / Sportsvision debacle, and doubling down currently does not impact current viewership or interest in baseball, and continued erosion of the audience?

Again, you are just grasping at anything here.  Tell me what TLR has to do with TV contracts in 2020?  Its like you just want to be bitter and will use whatever you can to do it.

What is unequivocally creepy is speculating on adultery involving Jerry Reinsdorf or anyone else.

  • Ratings tanked because the NBA insisted on being at the forefront of protesting and pissing off a majority of their fanbase, hence the awful ratings

It is 2020. Do you really believe that if it wasn’t for JR that both Chicago teams would not be on cable? That somehow the monetization of television would have accelerated without Chicago?  Also none of this changes that MLB makes billions on their TV contracts and the World Series is the anchor of that coverage... and that also has nothing to do with Jerry.

Laughable. JR and EE were the architects of the pay per view scheme both locally and nationally, steal what you can now scheme be it television or raping taxpayers across the country to pay for their capital expenses. Also destroyed interest by cancelling the 1994 season .When you cut out long term interest and erode your customer base for short term greed, you get flaccid interest in baseball that endless erectile dysfunction and gambling ads cannot remedy. It's how a two team baseball city became a one team city, and how the NFL pwned MLB and continues to pull away like Secretariat.

Because the NBA is doing awful with a similar model.

And then to attempt to credit this to a single ownership group in all of pro sports?  Laughable.

I mean these arguments might have been valid in 1989, but in 2020?  The world has changed. Come join us. Let go of those feelings.

The "world has changed", yet the "South Side brain trust" is turning to 1983 for their managerial candidate. Simple concept, though beyond the ability for Reinsdorf / Hahn bots to comprehend.

The world has also moved on from MLB. Over 40M average viewers watched the 1980 World Series, the year before Reinsdorf and Einhorn bought the White Sox and began managing league MLB national contracts in the 1980s.

Since JR/EE involvement, World Series viewership has cratered by over 80% with to under 10M viewers, despite the Dodgers presence as the second largest television market and profile team. JR's and EE's stewardship of television contracts over the decades has led to this reality. The same type of decisions which lead to the destruction of White Sox fan interest in Chicago, from parity to over 2 to 1 Cubs dominance.

The entire structure of professional sports have gone in the same direction,  as has television,  yet you are so fixated on Jerry that you are trying to blame him for ruining baseball.  You do realize that this World Series has been on free tv, right?

Have you seen NBA playoffs ratings this century?  Have you seen the multi decade downward trend?  Did you see that this years finals set a new all time low ratings record? Did you ever stop and think that there might be some once in a century externality occurring that could be responsible for the record lows? Did Jerry cause that?

Have you seen television ratings in general for this century? Do you realize that not a single television show this century ranks in the top rated shows of all time because of the splintering of television options.  Is Jerry responsible for that too?

Not sure if Jerry slept with your wife or what, but you are completely irrationally blaming this guy for things that are light years beyond him.  Frankly its creepy the level of anger and obsession you have for this guy.

As I thought. You can't answer to any of it.

I don't know how this series is going to end, but mercy this Dodgers team is just straight up relentless.

Really impressive.

This is one of the better games I've seen

That may be the best non-Sox baseball game I've ever watched. Wow.

What the fuck just happened?

Do all Dodgers catchers get the yips in the postseason? lmao

Arozarena stumbled coming to home and still made it lmao

That ending was crazy.  Could you imagine being a Dodgers fan if the Rays end up winning the series.

Kershaw tomorrow night. Let’s see if he can win the big one. Love Game 5’s when they’re tied.

Un-flipping-believeable!!!!

On the post game they had some dodgers fans being interviewed and one just let this slip without it being edited...

”it was a bad fucking inning”.

That was one of the best baseball games I have ever watched. Every inning, both teams answered, and what a play to end it.

Your analysis here is excellent. People tend to ignore history. That is short-sighted.

?For all you kids watching out there: Look the ball into your glove.  Otherwise, talk about a train going off the tracks, this thread passes all the tests.  I now know that if it weren't for Eddie, the games would be on free for all and we'd be drinking Falstaff from a free tap in our dens.  And Falstaff was great before people decided they preferred the taste of tan water.
