I think this is pretty cogent on your part. I'm thinking that the thus-far positive news on the vaccine has MLB in an exuberant mood this offseason.

If I'm GM/Manager Tony LaRussa, I'd get to signing some SP depth sooner, rather than later.

To be fair, that’s only starting pitchers and it’s very possible most teams see a need tor extra starters next year coming off a pandemic ridden season.  I think we’ll see position players and relievers get much less than usual.
