I hope the Marlins at some point stop being a new owner playground/ATM and  actually build a perennial contender.  Kim Ng is a good start, hopefully she gets everything she needs to do that.

Good for them. I wish her nothing but the best. If women are qualified for the job they deserve a chance. There aren't any physical barriers so let it be.

Another club just hired the first female GM, who actually seems qualified...

And we just hired a 76 year old douche boomer-type convincted drunk who hasn't managed in 10 years to be the manager of our young and up and coming team.

I know it's technically off topic, but this is just another reminder of how the situation for us just seems to cut deeper and deeper as time goes along.

Great news. She is a really good person and has always been passionate about baseball. She will do an excellent job.

She seems very well qualified. Congrats to her - that's a fantastic accomplishment.

You do realize she got her first job with the White Sox and did a lot of great things. I think her move to the Dodgers coincided with Dan Evans moving to Dodgers (and she eventually went with).

This is correct.

I hate that this is the thread headline she seems to have been eminently qualified which is all that should matter. Interested to see what the Marlins do it certainly isn't the easiest job

She is breaking barriers and I think that is worth acknowledging. Congrats to her, it's an exciting day for baseball. 

Kim was well qualified for this position, more so than many in the role today. Congratulations to the Miami Marlins for their excellent hire. I expect a third Marlins World Series Championship under her tenure. Perhaps she can then replace the asshat in Manhattan and become the first woman commissioner in North American Sports, and the first human and competent MLB Commissioner in decades.
