I guess they were just too damned expensive. If Portillos is right, Mathis wouldn’t be a bad option. He can’t hit at all, but he calls a great game and is a really good framer. Guys that hit like pitchers usually don’t have careers as long as his unless they are pitchers. If he makes the team, you can go with 3 catchers if you need to.

January 31, 20215 yr I wish Collins had some sort of trade value. Like a starting spot on some rebuilding team that can give him a shot in a C/1B/DH role for like a lottery ticket.
