They don't value him at Joc Peterson.  That should be REALLY obvious.

Even if you want to combine his last season with this one to make essentially one full season, Dylan Cease is now at

Stop responding to Parkman, example #2,356.

Bernstein and Rahimi should be fired on the spot for thinking Peterson is worth more than Cease. The level of incompetence in that thought process is mind-numbing.

The same guy that got lit up by the Twins?

If any pitcher has a bad start they're trash and must be thought of as such by the industry and sold for scraps. I get being a contrarian, but like, dude.

That's not very good.

So now Cease's value is defined by one start against the Twins?  Good lord man.

No, Cease's peripherals sucked in 2019 and 20, his spin rates jumped this year when he was doing well, and then as soon as the sticky ban went into place his command went from passable to absolute shit.

"not very good" starting pitcher with four years of cheap control is not = to a shitty player with an expiring contract.

Just no.

Cease's value is defined by his shitty peripherals from 2019-20 and the fact that his early season improvements might have been a result of using substances.

I feel like we're having the Reynaldo Lopez argument from 2018-19 all over again.

Then you don't understand trade value in 2021.

Or they think Cease sucks and has minimal value. That is a valid thought.

I'm not sure that Cease doesn't completely suck. He looks like he might be Lopez part deux.

Dylan Cease is English for Daniel Cabrera. Great stuff, has no idea where it's going.

What in the fuck are you talking about?  He’s literally 30th in fWAR this year and basically has 1 1/3 seasons worth of starts.  He will likely regress some due to a lack of sticky stuff, but he has plenty of room for growth and he’s made substantial improvement in this year alone.  Worst case scenario, he’s a damn good #4 starter and that has plenty of value when you’re under control for four more cheap years.  Joc probably has negative value at this point.  It’s a completely fucking stupid trade idea.

Cease had a FIP over 6.00 and an xFIP over 5.00 last year. He sucks.

His k rate as gone down significantly over his last few starts. He's displaying all of the things that made him an issue in 2019-20.

What if you think that was substance related and the guy from 2019-20 is the real Cease?

I think Cease has more trade value than Pederson, but not by much.

You have to remember, Bernstein believes his job is to create controversy and "educate" the listeners who are not as smart as him.

This comment falls into the former category.

Yet here he is for the 2nd year in a row outperforming those numbers by a significant margin.

Sticky Stuff. That is all.

Pederson sucks too, I think it's ridiculous just because of the control but I don't think Cease anywhere close to as much value as you guys do.

There is a chasm of space between 4 years of even a back end starter and Joc Peterson, let alone one with the potential and arm of Dylan Cease.

His spin rate on his 4 seamer is barely up, just a bit more active spin.

Felipe Paulino supposedly had a great arm. Hitters saw him well and lit him up.

Dylan Cease's K/9 IP in games prior to the Houston Series/prior to the sticky ban: 11.475

Dylan Cease's K/9 IP in his last 4 games: 11.5082.
