  • He is an all around guy, but has shown the best ability to get his tools to show in games and keeps improving as he rises.    Kanny is a really difficult hitters park and especially for power.

Great pick from everything I've read and seen on You Tube. I just hope he signs with the Sox and play at University of Indiana where he has a full ride offer.

Jose Rodriguez not even getting a mention here is pretty wild to me. I think he's the best prospect in the system. If Montgomery goes to Kanny and hits as well as Rodriguez has this year we'll all be thrilled about it.

Missed him, doesn't KAN have a few very promising bats actually?

yeah I think this is the year I stop caring about prospect pedigree and go with the guys I think are the best and rodriguez just keeps outperforming his reports.

I mean what the White Sox are doing right now is basically unprecedented in contemporary baseball as far as impact from the draft.  Yea other teams have home grown talent but it's from their latin systems or guys that acquired vie trade or whatever but the Sox have an absurd amount of draft picks from the last 6 or so years contributing as solid backups to solid regulars to stars.

McDowell, Ventura, Thomas, Fernandez…Karkovice, Grebeck, Bere, Pall, Radinsky, Thigpen

Come on Colson couldn't even get an honorable mention.

How does max prep and perfect game make him the #1 prospect in Indiana and MLB pipeline have him as #48 prospect in the draft?

Is it because he is from a small school and the coaches didn't see him enough?

Its confusing, but the tweet with the first all state team says that all drafted players are automatically all state. So he isn't on the lists, but he is still all state.

Wow, that seems somewhat weird to exclude drafted players from the All-State announcement. Not sure if it good because it recognizes the non-drafted kids or if its bad because the drafted kids don't get recognized.

Ha, “you got paid you were so good so you don’t need this ribbon if your achievement.”

It almost makes me wish we still had the super long drafts so the 40th round vanity picks would be included.

we had what, kenny and ozzie's kids drafted?

Carey Schueler, Ron Schueler's daughter, was picked in the 43rd rounder. Brandon Bossard's son was picked in the 31st. Reinsdorf's grandkid was taken in the 40th round.

I keep seeing  (Rodriguez) name mentioned. So what is his claim to talent? Defense? His hitting seems a little above league average, but nothing special. And Ramos. Ramos  DHs half the time and hits about league average. I assume league average is about .250.

He's referring to that fact that you used batting average as a basis for quality of hitting. Unless you are just trying to start arguments, I wouldn't use that.

Well that requires a bit of Rodrigues and Ramos education, help a brother out. I would expect a guy that is bandied about as a number one organizational prospect to bring a lot of tools and game to the table. What are we talking about here? I

Usually its wRC+ or OPS+ and stats like that which compare the player to others on the league

The fangraphs blurb said basically the same.  They got two lefty batting SSs with first round grades, that's intriguing.

Kanny is a really difficult hitters park and especially for power. It’s also a huge jump from rookie league which is where he played at 18.

He’s been batting lead off, where I’m his k% is down, his walks are up, he’s swiped 18 of 22 bags, and has 8 hrs in 50 games.

At only 5’11 he doesn’t have a ton of room to grow, but he just keeps putting it together and feels like he could really put himself on the map in A+ where the park is easier.
