If every leak has a purpose, this is a good way to theoretically put pressure on the Sox FWIW

  • He’s still great on tv.  He’s absolutely brutal on Twitter.  He’s a yes man and he’s a condescending jackass on social media.

  • At least they didn't get roped along all off-season only to get Manny Machado's friends and relatives. It could be a lot worse.

  • So I just got a text from a buddy of mine who is very connected (to MLB not necessarily Sox). Said Sox are on fire right now and close on a couple sizeable moves.

I bet if the RF issue is still a problem after this season and he doesn’t address it at the deadline, we will see him re-assigned to a different position in the organization or he will leave.

Hahn is in no wise behaving as a man with urgency about his job insofar as RF goes.

That's almost as ridiculous as KW's big board...maybe someone stole Hahn's, or it was misplaced, because there's no logical reason to be caught with our pants down like this on Conforto and Kimbrel.  It almost makes one think we never even once had a discussion about the likes of Conforto or Bryant, already knowing the price was wrong.

Then we get this unwilling to go a fourth year crap...which means there really is no strategic plan for remaining competitive after 2024, when TA7 is also likely to be on his way out the door reading the tea leaves.

So 2 or possibly 3 years remaining in the window, but Detroit is going to have a huge say in how that unfolds.

The Sox are not a strategic organization and haven't been since KW was hired. It's all tactical stuff, not strategic. There's no philosophy, just various ideas and compromises given certain circumstances. It's feeling things out and reacting to situations. Let's 'take a flier' on this and that guy and see what assets we can move in a trade that'll generate some drama. In light of a coherent long term vision, or a vague sense of such a thing, we'd be a lot happier with the way this offseason has gone.

That was my exact thought. And now that the Giants signed Joc, we should see another team pop up tomorrow as interested in Conforto.

Yeah, but the Sox can't compete with the package that other teams may be willing to give. It's hard to see the Sox acquiring either player if there are multiple teams involved.

The Twins don't even want to spend, but the Sox offseason so far is pretty much begging and pleading for them to jump back in...especially with Cleveland seemingly looking to tear down.

Sure, but in that case he could of just said nothing.  By saying they are specifically done adding at 2B implies they still plan to add to the offense elsewhere.

To be fair, it was in regards to signing Harrison.  No reason for him to mention outfielders.

Also, I find it truly fascinating there have been very few rumors in regard to both Conforto Castellanos.  No idea what to make of that, but seems odd for high profile Boras clients.

Manaea is not going to cost that much.  Whether Hahn wants to push those chips in remain to be seen, but he has a history of trading for rentals with local ties.

And then there is this.  If we were going with what we have for RF, why not prioritize Miller at 2B at least?  Failing to add any left-handed hitting is yet another fireable offense after stating it being a priority.

Well, at least 2004-05 made sense in retrospect.  Go away from the bloated salaries of Maggs, El Caballo and Valentin to allocate the money across more guys.  Manufacturing runs at the top with Pods and Iguchi.  Two huge pitching additions the year before, with Contreras totally under the radar.  El Duque for leadership.  Dye and AJ at a massive discount.  Bullpen by committee with Hermanson, Takatsu, Jenks, Politte, Marte and Cotts.  Everett in the leadership mix as well.

All for $65 million, at least the Opening Day payroll.

Just a warning but I am going to be absolutely merciless with Sheets defense if he's out there

Even still, the white Sox can either give out something big league ready (difficult to do this year) or they can give up something rather away…which has some chance of blossoming into something they wished they hadn’t given up.

I really don’t think Jesse Rogers know much of anything.

He has sources...after a while it seems all of us are trying to wish a move into existence despite being told it’s not happening

I will be right there with you.  Every screw up is a self inflicted wound.

I’ll be honest, if Hahn doesn’t complete this roster and it costs us, I pray SoxFest comes back next year and he gets torched alive.  That being said, hopefully he does the right thing and it doesn’t come to that.

No one credible has said a move isn’t happening though…at least from what I can tell.

If they don't add I'm just going to go fishing and keep my Sox watching to a minimum. This is just inexcusable.

Dude, just by being contrarian, they stumbled onto a market inefficiency WRT Pods and Iguchi.

Costs for pitching was suppressed, and the Bullpen had a collective synchronous career year.

Dye took a discount to be here based on the principle of him keeping his word, and AJP's value was suppressed after he had a tough year in SF. Neither of these things would happen today.

It was the alignment of good fortune, moreso than good design, in retrospect. Don't get me wrong, I will forever be happy with the WS win. But there was scant overall FO strategy that led to that banner.

Jesse Rogers is pretty credible. He works for the Sox flagship.
