If Anderson has suffered a serious knee injury…and team struggles into May at 14-19/13-20

Now that we know he hasn't suffered a serious knee injury, can we delete this thread?

Andrus HAS to hit. if not, this next month with Eloy out is BAD.

Eloy is probably back on Friday.  If not, early next week.  He took BP yesterday and is running.

No let him cook

Guessing then he has to go on a rehab assignment.

As far as the premise in this thread, should this come to pass the Sox will again be between a rock and a hard place.

I don't see how they could justify another 'rebuild' to a fan base already angry and frustrated. Many of those fans might just turn apathetic and not give a damn anymore.

Plus the fan base doesn't trust current folks in the front office to get it right anyway.

Now if JR appears and basically says he's fired the baseball side of the front office, Sox fans may be willing to give the team the benefit of the doubt. (But can anyone honestly see JR doing that?)

My guess is that if the Sox have any type of chance, Hahn empties out the farm in a desperate gamble to save things. As has been pointed out admitting the rebuild didn't work is akin to the front office saying they screwed up and their ego's won't permit that.

The Front office doesn't need to point anything out. Anyone Sox fan with any kind of common sense already knows this rebuild has been a massive failure so far. Go look at what Houston and the Cubs had accomplished 7 years into their rebuilds and compare it what the Sox have done.

Im sure he knows that. I think he may be considering Eloy's next injury.

There's no way the quartet of Anderson, Jimenez, Robert, and Moncada play 500 games combined in a season, this there?

2 to 4 weeks of minor league baseball on the south side. I’m glad I didn’t invest in any tickets this year.  I invested a years worth of car payments last year. More nice dinners for my wife this year bb

Wow...burn.

Even if it's not more than a month... it's the critical time in the season when you can certainly lose a division.

Just like 2022.

Does it really increase the odds they go crazy taking on salary at the deadline?

Likely not... as poor attendance/fan support will inevitably get thrown out as a reason.

They did manage to draw roughly 2 million fans in one of the worst, most disheartening seasons in team history and then followed that up with an inconceivably worse offseason in terms of generating fan interest, highlighted by the Clevinger debacle.

What does emptying out the farm system even mean?

With TA7 on the way out... Montgomery simply HAS to stick around and be something close to a star.

Trading someone like Colson for fool's gold will only make the next inevitable rebuild last longer by a year old two.

Fwiw, the Royals only had a four year window but they almost won two World Series titles before succumbing to injuries and a lack of quality pitching depth.

They shouldn't have paid Alex Gordon, Hosmer/Moustakas/Cain all left and Yordano Ventura died tragically.  That was all she wrote.

It means Hahn may trade anything and everyone in a desperate effort to 'save" the season/rebuild. Short term thinking.

Given JR's age I can easily see him doing that if for no other reason to have something on his resume for when new ownership arrives and he is fired.

What if your mother and father had never met?

The White Sox would have 5-6 more World Series titles, a newer, actually “cool” downtown-facing stadium and I would have instead ended up starring with Aubrey Plaza in Safety Not Guaranteed 2.

What players do they have significant $ locked into that are “bad”? Yoan is the only one you could make an argument for, and he isn’t “bad”. And it’s also over after 2024.

Grandal

Moncada

Giolito

Eloy

Grandal is just bad. Moncada is getting way too much money for his output. Gioito is a headcase. Eloy is self explanatory.

If Giolito gets knocked out early tmrw (day game memories galore) and with the daunting upcoming schedule, things will get ugly here really fast...

The "good" news (I guess) is that if what you say happens Sox fans will at least know early, the season is probably toast and can tune them out.

Last season never ended

Not good news to those of us who don't tune out and watch for 162 games....it's a sickness you see.

Colas at-bats alone aren't enough to sustain fan interest... or even the joy of watching Robert.

(We're basically the Angels minus two true superstars and a massively disappointing Rendon signing.)

Grifol alone didn't move the meter very much either... but the game from here on out will be protecting Hahn and Boyer on the marketing side from criticism.

A neat trick if you can pull it off.

Haha none of these plays are “bad”, but whatever you say.

3 1/2 games back with the worst tsunami stretch of games yet to come...

Would have liked to have seen Grayson Rodriguez, but he started yesterday... not sure about Sun starter yet.
