7/27/23: Cleveland Guardians @ Chicago White Sox - 7:10 PM CDT TV: NBCSCH & Radio WMVP AM 1000

First game during Hahn Tanking 2.0 Era.

White Sox are a slight underdog (Pick vs. -110 Bibee via Wynn), think the +180 - 1 1/2 run line the better value if backing the Sox.

Over 90F an hour before gametime so the ball could continue jumping despite the anemic offenses of both teams.

Sammy Peralta is back to replace Giolito and Lopez. They are not bothering to fill the other spot today. Par for the course in the Hahn era.

or they're showing teams he can pitch effectively in back to back games.

Cease hasn't missed a turn through the rotation since debuting in the majors. We complain about injuries all of the time, but Cease is as dependable as they come. For that reason alone don't think WAR

Well, we've got a game.  I would think that the Guardians will be disappointed with anything less than 3/4.

I’m still blown away we have so many former top 10 to 20 prospects and the lineup is absolute garbage.

I know this might be unpopular, but I think Cease is what his ERA says he is outside of 2022.

Also, he throws 94-95 now and no longer has plus velo in this day and age.

I think WAR overrates Cease. He's basically Rich Harden if he stayed healthy.

So if someone wants to trade a haul for him, be my guest.

He absolutely needs to be traded.  Can’t believe his fastball to start the game was 93

Like now, before he loses his s%*#.

It’s incredible how Guardians pitchers gain velocity in their system and Sox guys lose theirs.

Player development is the biggest inefficiency in baseball right now

His velocity is awful tonight, not sure what’s going on

Nice getting out of it. That said, Sox need to starting hitting, zero for over six innings (Yoan's hit in the 4th yesterday their last one).

Here we go with the bunting/base running attack.

The Guardians are now the 2001-2010 Piranhas.

Cease is getting destroyed.  This feels like rock bottom

Naylor almost hitting .500 in his career at GRF...crazy.

The further Cease gets away from 2022, the more his value drops. Trade him, Rick. Idiots.

That stupid idiot thinks he can help them contend next year

That would be injuries to Cease and/or Robert...or a Hahn extension.

I wonder how many games the White Sox will lose this year? I’m thinking 110.

Nice of them to show up against their 3 biggest rivals

Would not shock me if Cease looks a lot like Kopech next year.

Rock bottom would've been a 3 game sweep by the Cubs.  I realized tonight it was only a 2 game series.  ?

Since June Cease has the third best WHIP rate in the majors and an ERA of just over 3...

The pitch calling was comically bad here. Keep calling the curve, as he had no command of it.
