Do I have a duty to sit here, read and respond to a bunch of people yelling for the manager and GM that have this team a good 4 years ahead of schedule (by some people's claims, here) - to be fired? I don't know what your understanding of a normal employment agreement is, but a GM works for the owner, and every owner "allows" their GM to work under the rules and budget laid out for them.

Is Chris Getz now responsible for his stats on another team? Do teams usually send hitting coaches to other teams to coach up the players they will eventually trade for? That's an outlandish claim.

The dude couldn’t hit for two years at Coors. Edited 11 hours ago11 hr by WhiteSox2023

In hindsight, I totally understand why it didn't happen because they weren't interested in trading prospects for rentals.Instead, they traded prospects for bad players who they thought they could "fix". It just made no sense to me. You're in a division race. Why take a chance on acquiring an aging pitcher who had been god awful the entire season so they could try to "fix" him midseason? That doesn't seem like a sound strategy at all. Edited 11 hours ago11 hr by ron883

Sometimes knowing what you can do and then executing does look like arrogance. You just cited one stat that has a low correlation to total offensive value and is fueled by an unsustainable BABIP while ignoring his K rate & BB rate (which are both atrocious) along with his mediocre ISO. His xwOBA coming into today was .204 which is 47 points below the lowest qualified hitter in baseball out of 246 players. It’s also 48 points worse than it was with the Rockies this year. The fact you’re applauding the Sox for being arrogant for acquiring one of the worst hitters in baseball and somehow making him worse is why no one can take you seriously when it comes to Chris Getz.

The 0% BB rate? The 35% K rate? The ISO that is still well below his one good season with the Rockies.I’m hope that the. 636 BABIP in September isn’t what you’re citing when you claim the Sox “fixed” him. And even if we want pretend that’s sustainable or a somehow an indicator of success to come, that’s paired with 0 walks, 10 K’s, & 0 HR’s in 21 PA’s.

Zero walks in a Sox uniform with 27 strikeouts. This is probably what it would be like watching Wolkow play, but without the homerun power.
10 hours ago10 hr And to be clear, I don’t think Getz should be fired for the deadline. I was very, very angry about last night’s loss and Getz holds a lot blame for our shortfalls since the deadline. I overreacted a bit no doubt. However, his stock has taken a big hit IMO and he’s got to prove he‘s the dude now. This offseason will be a huge test for him because a lot of pieces are in place but there are still a bunch of holes & weaknesses that need to be addressed. If he fails to make us a legit contender next year, then he really needs to start being on the hot seat IMO.

I love the defense and he does hit the ball hard, so maybe there is a chance he can figure s%*# out with an off season program. But so far, there is nothing to be arrogant about with his acquisition.
