And having just let's say 2-3 Top 25 MiLB prospects is more important than quantity (see CLE DET MIN).

Bonemer Hagen and Braden (189 ranked by Kiley McD) are far from sure things ATM. Same goes for Schultz.

Bonemer looks great right now...but some of that value comes playing SS.

His offensive numbers coming at 3B or LF aren't going to be quite as impressive.

Carlson also has a high range of variability from floor to ceiling as a prep prospect.

The runway from draft to drafting team contributer is such a long period of time when compared to other sports. Basketball and Football players instanting join the active roster. A sizeable number of hockey players do. Zero baseball players do. Well maybe once in a generation. It is a big deal if a player joins the MLB in the same SEASON they are drafted. 3-5 years is a normal progression.

We have several threads going or recently going (Fire Getz, Crochet Tracker, Benetti, Thomas Sues Sox) that all tie back to one thing: Jerry Reinsdorf is the controlling owner of this franchise. Until he's no longer owner of this team, this franchise will be a total joke and one of the worst operated in MLB. They'll continue to hire incompetent people, trade away All-Star talent, and alienate people who have been faces of the franchise.

I'm just so sick and tired of this crap. None of this nightmare is going to end for Sox fans until Jerry relinquishes control of this team. I just hope our upcoming #1 pick pans out AND that JR is no longer owner by the time we get to the point where it's time to trade him away for some more prospects. I hope there will be enough of a fanbase left to salvage this franchise if he really hangs on to ownership until 2034.

The first part is what changed my opinion of Getz. He easily could have just mailed it in with infinite job security, but he actually had the stones to (1) completely overhaul the organization and (2) hire qualified people from other teams, even if they might one day be his replacement.

I don’t know if he’s the guy to finish off the rebuild or not, but I respect him for doing those two things.

The biggest downside to me is we are just catching up to where other orgs have been for a while. That’s on Jerry. In order to make up for that lag we need to spend. That’s also on Jerry. The guy is a cancer, and as the saying goes: f*** cancer.

And in case you’re reading this tray, this is just my opinion.

Also, one still has to question the scouting. I know it has been joked about, but it seriously seems like they just pick players to acquire in trades using scouting reports from past years. Does anyone see any hitting talent in Pereira so far? Dude looks terrible at the plate.

The top end positional talent in division for Minnesota CLE DET way ahead of the Sox...McGonigle DeLauter Clark Jenkins etc.

Schultz and/or Smith have to be FOR to cancel that out.

But the mlb teams are still miles ahead.

Obviously, small sample size. But the big effort to systematically destroy this specific problem has not been realized, yet. We don’t want to jump to any conclusions. It’s just funny that the issue is still front and center. I’d like to know if the entire organization has or will made progress that still eludes the big club.

Basic fundamental skills are lacking in this organization.

Maybe that's because the players aren't very good or as I'v said in the past they aren't willing to learn and the Sox coaches et al can't teach them very well.

That is on scouting and coaching........in any profession labeled pro fundamental should already exist.

This is a problem in MLB but the Sox have to be in the bottom.

It's telling because guys with a skill gap never seem to get fixed. Lenyn Sosa has been in the Sox organization 10 years now, and is still probably the same defender he was at 16. Korey Lee has been catching in the Sox org since the 23 deadline, and apparently still can't catch a pitching staff.
