Sox Year In Review...

Refuse to read it, don’t need to bring back horrible memories and nightmares, I’m sleeping pretty good lately.

TLDR

They sucked ass. Short and sweet.

Well, the most promising rebuild/team in franchise history was officially wasted and disbanded and we have now committed to losing

Losing is a strategy, isn’t it?  Oh wait, the draft order changes completely screwed that strategy over.  So now we just have to hope the Sox actually draft well without having more obvious top 3 to 5 overall picks to select from.  I’m sure the Sox won’t mess this up…

I was driving around yesterday and reminiscing about the awful job Hahn did with our championship window

2020...shortened season ended with playoff loss because of lack of starting pitching

2021...LaRussa returns. A team that was awfully good at home took the foot of the gas during the regular season and Houston kicked their asses in the playoffs.

2022...500 club

2023....Over 100 losses

Could they have done a worse job???

I thought Pedro's comment to DVS yesterday about the lineup was nothing short of delusional. When the Sox get off to a brutal start this year, he'll be fired around Memorial Day.

They say life imitates art.

The Sox seem to be taking a page out of the movie "Major League" (the first one) by signing every broken down, has-been, stiff and retread they can find.

One thing this does is clearly show JR was a liar at his press conference last August when he talked about having to get better quickly (he has no intention of doing so) and Getz's comments about competing in the division.

Those chances can be grouped into two categories...slim and none.

It’s obvious Getz sold Jerry on taking over and fixing the bad baseball Jerry was seeing under the previous regime by saying he’d improve the defense and IQ.  When you combine that with Jerry thinking that Getz was the only one who ever taught the young players how to properly play baseball, you get yourself this boring strategy we’re seeing with regards to personnel moves.

Depends on your definition of "quickly." ?

Well we should hope these moves are based on short term budget constraints for Jerry/Hahn nuking interest over the past decade.

I'm holding on hope they can improve drafting, player development and when money is available FA acquisitions over the next few seasons and build around the growing prospects they have been acquiring since July.

Jerry was definitely talking [lying] about the Sox being better in 2024, during his press conference.

Pedro’s comment  “and we’re not done” was great too. He can’t be this clueless. What they aren’t done acquiring replacement level and below players? With a legitimate major league organization, Pedro would have been done long ago.

Especially when you start adding more Royals.

The chances of that happening are bout as good as the Sox winning 90 games.

The day he was hired he didn't set the table correctly.  He mention things he seen from another 90+ loss dugout they need to improve.  Then recently he mentioned he didn't like the team which Laurence Holmes pointed as nothing but being a kiss ass.

Somewhere during the TLR era the team morale started to regress.  Who knows why but it appears some players couldn't wait to leave. Girfol is not the answer. Maybe an experienced manager would not even want to bother with this team.
