Chasing Records — 121 losses, modern MLB record

The absolute worst decision that was made was JR saying he couldn't afford to lose time. Hell, I would be way more accepting of a 120 loss season had he tore this thing down to the studs and had a very thorough search for an entire new baseball operation.

Instead, what is happening right now is what he said he was avoiding with the hiring of Getz.

With another season like it to follow after the selling is done.

What's sad is that we all saw this coming.

Glad DVS got my note that I e-mailed him and that it proved accurate.

Interesting enough - some of the best teams in baseball right there with the Sox on this one.

The problem is they all have decent to great bullpens, while we technically have pitchers in our bullpen.

See?

If JR would have hired from outside the org, we would have had to wait until next year for this fun.

We woulda had the GM version of Pedro. We were fucked either way.

Like, Doc Ellis style?

I strongly believe this team will have a worse record than the 62 mets. 40-122 is likely.

50 games under .500.

In July.

Grifol is also under a .333 winning percentage in his career.

50 games under .500 for a full season is 56-106.  The Sox would need to play .500 baseball at 29-29 to win 56 games this year, or win 2 more games in a 58 game stretch than they did in 104 games so far this year.

Why highlight 56-106?  This is the current record for the most losses in a single season in Sox history.

Congrats on setting the record! Another new low, two double-digit losing streaks in the same season!

Never happened before in 124 years!

Well done, JR, Getz and Grifol! ?

Winning percentage back down to .260.

Back on pace to top the 2003 Detroit Tigers record!

42-120!

40 wins is closer than 100 losses. On paper. Yet 40 wins feels like a massive feat for this team.

NEGATIVE 4.3

This might be the ugliest stat I’ve seen.

I, for one, have faith they can make up those 4.5 games!
