It would be nice to extend him. I don't expect it but they could surprise me I guess.

Supposedly they tried, nothing happened and they are going to deal him.

Is it too late to refund them?

Send them both back to KC.

We'll eventually sign those guys at the end of their careers.

Stoney worded that kind of weird. I love Stoney but tell us what you mean by changes. Changes in coaching staff? Changes in ownership? Changes in the players? Weird post.

Hey Lip. Do all small market teams operate the way the Sox do? I don't pay enough attention. Do the small market teams have to get rid of all their good players trying to get 3-4 good prospects? Then when those prospects get good trade them for 3-4 more? Weird the commish allows one set of teams to operate one way and the also rans operate another way.

Tampa Bay has been doing it this way for years.

The difference is they have a scouting/ minor league developmental system that is second to none, so when they let guys go, they have guys brought up who are just as good, sometimes even better.

Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and even Cleveland have also let good players go before hitting arbitration seasons and/or free agency.

Commissioner has no authority over how individual teams conduct their business. He could possibly do something under the "best interest of baseball" clause but of course if he did, the owners would get together and fire him like with Fay Vincent.

Fundamentals have been an unknown word to this organization for years. The only real meaningful change comes when new ownership arrives.

If I had to guess I'm thinking Steve was talking about Grifol (fall guy) and his staff.

love how they overloaded Crochet with innings this year effectively lowering his trade value, Sox are such a dumpster fire

You actually believe Crochet’s value is lower now than at the beginning of the season??

Turn and face the strange

This seems like a shot at Pedro.

There is a middle ground you are missing here, where instead of throwing the guy 100 innings in the first half of the season, they use him for shorter outings at the beginning of the season, thus leaving him more innings for the end, and for a team who might trade for him to utilize.  He's worth  more today than he was in March, but he also could still be worth more if he had more innings availability projected.
