Sox have hired a director of "leadership and culture"

Right so promoting Hostetler to a position he didn’t really qualify for but he was in the Sox organization so hey let’s do it sounds nothing like Getz

look, you can be excited about a few new guys being hired but they have done nothing and nothing feels different except we keep getting closer to being the worst team in history.
But yay on bannister, I’m sure in the next couple 100 loss seasons he will prove his worth and we can root for the pitching coordinator

You know what's even better? The chairman hiring a competent and qualified president of baseball ops and getting the f*** out of the way. No more lackeys, no more forcing a drunken dinosaur on the org trying to make up for a 40 year old "mistake", set the budget and let your baseball people run the operation. Culture and leadership will sort itself out with qualified hires unfettered ownership's insistence on doing things backwards.

Yep. That was the single worst hire I have ever seen in baseball.

A cited example of the impact of Brian Mahler, the former U.S. Navy SEAL turned White Sox director of leadership, culture and continuing education, are the anti-bias measures the franchise put into their recent managerial hiring process. Applicants had to submit completed written questionnaires full of open-ended queries on their baseball philosophy before they could charm Chris Getz & Co. in an interview.

As can often be the case with the updates the White Sox have made to their process in recent years, the end result is something that looks like what other organizations are doing. So in trying to recall what he might have written that distinguished him early in the Sox managerial search, Will Venable spun his wheels for a moment, recalling a litany of questions he answered from different teams before landing on one that he felt was meaningful.

It isn't often that something is a fucking terrible idea in real time, and then in the long run it still turns out worse than you expected, but here we are.  Hopefully the newest hire means Jerry is LESS involved in the day to day, but I feel like he is old man Jaws always lurking to strike and kill Sox fans joy and optimism.

I need to go back and find the press conference of Rick announcing TLR as the new manager.  Looked like he was seething as he was announcing the news.  🤣

I remember I was getting a car emissions test done when the news broke, and that's the only emissions test I ever remember doing. Was sitting in the car stunned the whole time.

I remember watching it live.  I’m pretty sure Hahn walked calmly back to his office, shut the door, screamed at the top of his lungs, and punched his wall a few times.

He tried to quit, and JR reminded him that he had a non-compete, and Reinsdorf would exercise it in every instance, or so the story goes.
