2nd baseman from the Detroit organization via LA. He'll be 27 in May. It's not as bad as

it sounds. He's always hit and will take a walk too. Defense is solid. He's Danny Mendick 

but younger.

So we've got Meidroth, Vargas, Baldwin, Sosa, Jacob Gonzalez and now this guy who all profile best at 2B...although some can obviously play 3rd base as well.

First one to put up an OPS of 725-750 in the majors wins.

 

Brayan Ramos is looking like he's going to get crowded out of the picture quickly unless he can successfully convert to 1B/DH.

Lipcius has a nice Minor League track record, why hasn’t he advanced to the MLB level.

My guess is Vargas sticks at 3B, unless the Sox move him to the OF, and Meidroth is the 2B.  That means someone will need to slot in at SS.  With the guys they are adding, hopefully someone pans out.

He actually did get to the majors last season. .286/.341/.400 in 35 at bats. Just about what he's done at every level.

Welp give him a shot at 2B.  Nothing to lose here.

I've heard of a lot of random AAAA players. I've never heard of this guy.

 

He's no Gus Varland.
