If we catch them even for a day I will be so insufferable.

I think it was a joke, but at best it was creepy.

A true inside-the-parker. Not some little league business. Mullins didn't even misplay it that bad. FWIW, the runner was at first base, fielder's choice got the Manfred Man.

Fun lineup of games last night. Old Sock drawer on full display. Houser gave up 3 runs in 6 innings then was relieved by our old friend Jesse Scholtens...he was supposed to start against Charlotte in one of the games yesterday but instead threw 3 innings against the Ugly Sox and gave up three runs, one earned, and was tagged with the loss.

Cleveland is now tied with Houston for the final WC spot. Reds beat the Cubs, DBacks won, 1 and 2 games back respectively from the Mets. Giants continue to lose. So do the Rangers. They both seem totally out of the race now. Rooting for our midwestern teams to usurp the east coast ones.

The Diamondbacks are only a game back too and they sold at the deadline.

everybody in the AL lost today. Texas's 7 game losing streak is just weird. +82 run differential is 7th in MLB. Far higher than the Astros.

Juggling Jacob Young can play a few years for the Bananas after he's done with MLB lol

Red Sox, Tigers and Astros over Guardians

Mets over Reds and DBacks

What doesn't quite make sense is how the Mariners are sucr prohibitive favorites to win the World Series

Mariners 22%

Dodgers 14%

Yankees 13%

Blue Jays 11%

Phillies 10%

Brewers 7%/Cubs 3%

I see the Cubs Matt Shaw got ripped by the Mets announcers for attending Kirk's funeral instead of playing Sunday for the Cubs. Kirk's wife personally asked him to attend the funeral. I'd like to comment but I won't cause I'd be getting political. I will just say the Mets announcers don't need to opine about a guy on the other team going to a funeral.

I guess a lot of Cub fans are upset at Shaw too. Social media onslaught.

Busch went too.

No team has ever blown a 14 game lead.

Congrats to the Tigers.

Arizona walks off LA to stay alive-ish.

League leading 10th blown save for Tanner Scott.

LA is only 1.5 up on the Padres, their magic number is 3 though. That LA bullpen is very sketchy. There's no way Tanner Scott should be their de facto closer in October. Every time I see them blow a game, he's in there.

Roberts still prefers Treinen over Scott and Yates..

Sheehan and Kershaw to the pen...at least Clayton out of respect in his final season.  He has earned that spot.

Sasaki will try this final week, beginning tmrw.

Kopech might also return.

6 the Number of divisions (aka, every single one of them!) in which a first-place team has blown a lead of at least 5 1/2 games. According to Elias, this has never happened before in the six-division era, which dates back to 1994.

The Yankees were as many as eight games up in the AL East before the Blue Jays caught them.

The Mets were 5 1/2 games up in the NL East before the Phillies caught them.

The Cubs were 6 1/2 games up in the NL Central before the Brewers caught them.

The Astros were seven up in the AL West before the Mariners caught them.

The Dodgers were nine up in the NL West before the Padres caught them (though the Dodgers have since recovered).

And most astonishing of all, the Tigers were a season-high 15 1/2 up in the AL Central at one point, but they finally got caught by the Guardians on Tuesday night.

My favorite player Ha-Seong Kim is having a nice end to the season with the Braves. He's healthy and OPSing close to .800.

Rays might've used him while pushing for the playoffs. His rookie replacement is sub .600 OPS, negative WAR. Rays save less than $2mil. Easy player to trade in the offseason. Gifted the Braves, who ought to be back to winning baseball next season, an every day player.

To be fair, Carson Williams was a Top 10-15 prospect in MiLB coming into the season.  Didn't work out that way in terms of results.

yeah, I bet Williams will be a fine player, I just think if I was a Rays fan I would be mad at the situation, especially in the middle of a close playoff race. They're likely still out of the postseason even with HSK but it's such a cheapskate move. Try to trade him in the offseason or DFA him then. ATL would've given up a player I'm sure.

Magic numbers to eliminate the Astros and clinch a postseason berth:

Red Sox - 2

Guardians - 3

Tigers- 4

Astros down 4-0 in the 5th

I think you need to seek a second opinion. My post didn't go into politics at all. It's an interesting topic though. Can a ballplayer take off to attend a friend's funeral when asked by the wife to attend? The Cubs have already clinched the wildcard and this is life and death in the year 2025. A friend of the player died and he went to the funeral rather than play in the Sunday game. One could take the Cub at his word that he attended for his friend and friend's wife, not for political gain.

I didn't offer my opinion because then I'd be breaking board rules getting political. Most of the 'fights' on this board are people disagreeing with opinions different from their own. My momma used to tell me the world would be a dull place if everybody agreed with each other all the time. ... Now if other posts in the past are any indication you will blast me and get in the last word cause I know better than to push it and get put on vacation again and this will be my last comment on the matter.

First non-Yankee to hit 60 in the AL.

I want to see him hit 4 more to break the AL record. He really should win MVP.
