Shane Smith will be an interesting watch. He was on Law's list today for rookies that could make an impact in 2025.

Quote

22. Shane Smith, RHP, Chicago White Sox (White Sox No. 19)
Chicago took Smith from the Brewers in the Rule 5 draft, which had to feel like winning the lottery for the pitcher, who pitched very well as a starter in Double A last year but had no chance of making the Brewers’ Opening Day roster (since they didn’t even put him on the 40-man roster). Now he has a potential $760,000 payday and a real shot to stick in the majors. His role is probably as a reliever for now, but let’s not pretend the White Sox’ rotation is uncrackable. Smith is 93-96 with two breaking balls, needing something for lefties if he’s going to start — his platoon split data was mixed last year, with no split in the superficial stats but a way lower BABIP against lefties that is probably a fluke. He has a good delivery, he throws strikes, and if he develops a changeup or splitter he could end up in the rotation before the year is out. I don’t see a big ceiling here, to be clear, but enough that he could be valuable for a team that will likely need innings anywhere it can find them.

Meidroth quickly making his way up the lineup!

Obviously they lost the 1st 2 because I couldn't listen or watch.

Planning to see if I can pick up the CHSN feed off my TV browser here in California ( shhh).

You should be able to watch on mlb.tv correct? I watched a couple out of town games last week and I'm not paying for ST.

Ramos third, Meidroth at SS and Gray the dort of interesting names....Gallo finally getting into a game, as well as Narvaez.

Can't say I'd love to pay good money to watch this one...was actually hoping for more Colson or Braden.

Don't think so. It's not listed as one of the free games of the dayon my MLB.tv app.

As a matter of fact they had 2 games listed today as free games of the day so I was watching TB/Minn and it just stopped in the 3rd inning. I looked  back at the schedule and it said cancelled. Guess rain showed up and they cancelled it really fast. Got to see Eloy fly out.

Shane not Hagen.

No one has mentioned him, but I think that there's a very real chance that Shane Smith could be in the starting rotation this year. His minor league stats are rather impressive.

Also, as the # 1 Rule Five draft, I would think that means the Sox have some high expectations for him .

What other pitchers are we excited to see today?  In a way, kinda all of them.

I'm very curious about Smith, Booser, Leasure, Mason.

Oh brother, this guy STINKS

Haha, Steve Stone — like all pitchers, control is the key to success for Shane Smith…

Two walks later…

Colson would have got that

2-0 Rangers.

Not a lot of range at SS

He’s stubby.  Meidroth that is.

What did the Sox see in this guy?  He can’t throw strikes to save his life.

The stuff looks pretty good though

He’s throwing plenty hard, but he has no idea where it’s going.

Wow, he did not help himself today.

Maybe big league jitters.  It doesn’t look like he has had big walk issues in the minors based on his numbers.

He had a ~1 WHIP last season in AA/AAA. It's possible that one spring inning is not reflective of his skillset.
