It’s so true and very bizarre.  Jankowski is going to be released within a week or so and has already started 50% of our games when we have at least five other dudes who can play the OF (maybe six with Maton?).  Just very hard to fathom why any competent manger would do this?  Jankowski should be used nothing more than a pinch runner and defensive replacement until Tauchman is back.

I think the obvious answer is its not his call to make, otherwise, what GM in the middle of a rebuild is watching his manager do this and is just ok with it? That's all I can make of it.

I'm done making excuses for anybody in this org. They are all serving at the pleasure of their boss. If they don't like how they are operating they are free to resign. As far as I'm concerned Venable is just an idiot.

Good point.  No idea why Getz would want to give starts to Jankowski unless he’s focused on some early season tanking (which maybe?).

Didn’t Getz do pretty much the same thing last offseason — acquire a bunch of veterans that blocked young guys?  One could argue that it made more sense last year because prospects weren’t ready yet, but this looks like a continuation of last year — old vets playing over young guys.

They’re not ready this year besides maybe catchers

This is one of those games with the lineup and starting pitcher that I really just don’t care what happens.  Would like to see Vargas, Robert and Sosa play well.   The rest….whatever

At least they didn't bench Sosa again. Nice opening day kid, grab some bench! Fucking idiots.

I think Colas was a case where they just didn’t want him around the big league team.

If that's the case, why would they want him around the developing players on the AAA team? They are allowed to cut him after all

Definitely feels like Venable is giving Janikowski every chance to show he belongs on the roster after guys return.

I hope that isn’t the case.  I would prefer a manager that realizes talent is more important to winning than personal relationships.
