So if the Sox pull Perez, they will have been the first team in MLB history to have their starters give up 0 runs in the first four games of a season. What a crazy sport this game is.

Wonder what is going in with Korey Lee? Are they about to trade him or something?

Was going to say the same thing — Thaiss getting a ton of run.

Also, Jankowski and Taylor both starting in the corners.  Ridiculous.  Grab another outfielder please…

I still think it would be weird if Thaiss stayed around instead of Lee, because Lee bats righty. Maybe they don't like how he handles a pitching staff or something, but I'd rather see him DHing and Benintendi in the outfield, then.

Jankowski & Taylor in the corners is gross as f***.

Harold seems to be implying they are trying to move him.

Are we still eligible for potential compensatory draft picks if we call up Teel now?

I think he has to be called up before the date he would be eligible for the extra year of control.

Combined, they did not hit above .200 in 2024.

That would be pretty sweet to trade Thaiss for Canario +, then call up Teel.

Impressive…

Jankowski — .508 OPS last season / .623 career OPS

Taylor — .543 OPS last season / .671 career OPS

But you have said numerous times that Canario would be a terrible acquisition because of his strikeout rate.  Why do you want to acquire him now?

In any case, I doubt you are getting more than Canario for Thaiss in your hypothetical trade.

Because Thaiss (or Lee) are nothing and one will be cut anyway whenever Teel or Quero comes up.

I don't see how they fix Canario at the major league level. Maybe they give him the runway to fail for a few weeks, then he slips through waivers. The post said Canario (plus), meaning Canario and somebody else for Thaiss. The lede of the post was to bring up Teel, where he leads the White Sox to a World Series victory, then all the players cry because it means so much to them.

That’s the key — trying to slip Canario through waivers at a later date if he does struggle.  But jeebus, we have Jankowski and Taylor starting games.  Canario would have some runway right now.  And I bet Canario doesn’t cry when he strikes out.

We still refuse to play the younger players, why now?

It’s certainly looking that way.  No team, much less an expected uncompetitive team, should be starting Jankowski and Taylor in their corners.  That’s just ridiculous.

I'm already over this team. Just pathetic to be trotting out so many washed up vets.

So we have four guys on the bench today: Maton, Baldwin, Lee, & Slater.

If you are going to DH Benintendi, then Baldwin should be in LF.  I don’t really care how bad his 2B defense looked yesterday, the kid isn’t going to improve or get comfortable at any spot without reps.  Jankowski should never player over him IMO.

Beyond that, I’m mostly ok with the lineup.  Lee shouldn’t be used as just a platoon bat, but I can kind of understand getting Thaiss in there again with the offense struggling and him coming off a hot game.  That being said, that same logic should apply to Maton and Amaya.  Again, I have no idea how Maton is defensively at SS, but if capable at all then he should be splitting time there with Amaya (and ideally Baldwin, although I have him above in this hypothetical).

Has Amaya really started every game so far?  I’m sort of blown away by that.

Jankowski should never play over anyone really.

That I agree with.  Tauchman is going on a rehab assignment so Jankowski’s days are numbered.  Just wild we keep starting him when we have other options.

Cutting Lee would be stupid.

Thaiss has a proven ability to take a walk. Korey Lee is incapable of taking a walk.

I wonder how much of the stuff blamed on Pedro, was actually Getz?
