Nardiwashere
I don't understand why carriers wouldn't want local sports. That's the only thing keeping them alive. Last time I checked, MTV, one of the premiere cable brands, just shows that show called Ridiculousness 20 hours a day. Its a wasteland of nothing. There's no reason to subscribe without sports. Carriers do want local sports. They just want the best deal for their side, and they have the leverage. CHSN is a drop in the bucket for Comcast, so they can hold out until the RSN captitulates. The word is that Comcast doesn’t make as much money on it as people think, especially not when it’s 3 teams that all stink right now. So they want the best deal they can get. Tnetennba
This is less Jerry playing politics as it is Jerry engaging in a rather corrupt quid pro quo with an idealogical regime that wields regulatory and investigative bodies for their own ends. It's pretty disgusting, but also totally unsurprising.

Weird how every fuckin carrier is like “wow we aren’t making money on this anymore” in the exact same fucking way

Dick Allen
Comcast and JR were partners for so long....they knew what was going to happen to the station for the longest time, yet still couldn't put together deals. At least Blackhawk and Bulls fans weren't missing Championship contention.. They are doing Sox fans a favor keeping it off their systems. I unfortunately have the station, and while I rarely watch the Bulls or Blackhawks, the White Sox are a different story. It seemed after the first few games, they looked like they would suck, but at least have some sort of entertainment value. Now it looks like Groundhog Day from 2024.

I'm also waiting for advertising to stop working and the entire business model goes up in flames.
mac9001
I honestly don't understand why cable companies can't just offer a local sports add on option. I've been debating cancelling my Xfinity cable package, just let me pay whatever it's gonna be to watch or I'm done with the whole cable package thing. It's called a la cart programming and most if not all cable companies feel that is to difficult to execute.

None of this probably matters by the time the next owners are in charge.

To lower the team valuation by the year??? At the rate they're going...they will have toat money to Comcast to carry the Sox.
