That was the knock on either him or Hagen Smith earlier in the season...that they were hesistant to work the inside half of the plate, especially on same side hitters.

I'm wondering if they're waiting to see if Elko can do this for one more month since he's a .babip merchant (which, to be fair, he always has been) with a 30% strikeout rate (which has also stayed consistent).

He's finally walking this season, which is good.

That would do it. It sounds right too. He could hit and only DH so it's probably a labrum or possibly rotator cuff issue. He could hit with a small injury to either of these but not throw.

The question would be is that would surgery or healing in the off season allow him time to recover for spring training. Is it worth the htting development to only DH the whole year. 

After a few weeks of testing it the answer seems to be no.
