With Meidroth and Quero in the lineup and Vargas and Robert Jr starting to hit, things should start getting better. But still, I can't help  but wonder  how long this is going to go on with Vaughn,  I can't see him being put down to the minors. They're not going to pay him his $5 million dollars to hit in the minors. If he continues to tank I would like to think he would be traded to some other team for not much of anything. The White Sox would probably have to pay most of his contract.

They should put Vaughn on a swing rehab program in the DSL with full pay. Adios.

Vaughn's on the clock I don't doubt that now. Forum hero Jake Burger got sent down yesterday and the Rangers need bodies in their lineup. The same thing is going to happen to Andrew soon if he doesn't turn it around.

Maybe the  Rangers will want Vaughn.

It would take a GM as incompetent as Chris Getz to trade *for* Andrew Vaughn. Poor defensive 1B who have never cracked an .800 OPS and are trending downward for the second consecutive season are in such high demand afterall.

Andrew has worked hard each year to lower his game a little bit more and become the poster boy for worst player on worst team ever.

Sox still have to match the Cleveland Spiders loss record pre-modern era.

For a team that was as cash strapped as they were, I was shocked they brought him back.  it was an easy place to save.

"Shredding against International League pitching in possibly the country's most hitter-friendly ballpark at an advanced age is very far from a 1-to-1 comparison to major league production. But even if this is simply the minor league heater of a lifetime, since Elko is still rocking a 28 percent strikeout rate that threatens to elevate upon promotion, it comes alongside meaningful swing decision improvement that has made the Ole Miss legend's well-known contact issues less disqualifying.

"He's putting together all-around quality at-bats," Chris Getz said. "He's always hit the ball hard. He's actually increased how hard he's hitting it, and most importantly, how often he's doing it. He's certainly leading the organization in home runs, and I think he's at the top in minor-league baseball."

This is for WestEddy...proof someone is helping Elko WITH the Sox lol.

"Hitting director Ryan Fuller said Elko was primarily tasked with curbing his chasing this offseason, but with the notion that narrowing his focus would benefit his in-zone contact rates as well. He was an avid adopter of the White Sox' new Trajekt machine in spring training, and has maintained a steady routine of slightly less fancy pitching machine work in Charlotte.

"He's an intelligent kid and does his homework," said Knights manager Sergio Santos. "He's in there with [Charlotte hitting coach] Jim Rickon and what they kind of do is challenge themselves. They'll have the machine and Jim will mess with the dials and [Elko] will have to make that decision whether to swing or not, and it's definitely helped."

Thanks appreciate you.

I tell you if it was Colson Montgomery putting up Elko numbers he'd be up already. I guess anyone can play 1st. At least Amaya can run and field a lot better than Vaughn . Free Elko , demote Vaughn.

You are not kidding.  It’s getting into ultra strange territory now because this front office shouldn’t be hitching their wagon to him unless he absolutely proves it, and they are giving him every chance as if he already did prove it and we are just waiting for him to get back to his normal all-star self.

What a bunch of BS. Call a spade a spade for heavens sake. They have plenty of data on Vaughn already . This mythical quest for a minor league relief pitcher like the guy who just retired from the Jimenez trade is asinine. All that GM speak is just Getz trying to justify Vaughn's salary and draft pedigree while at the same time enhancing Elko's wrong side of the tracks upbringing and denying his own endless speeches about building a culture. How about building a culture based on merit and accountability ?

Sox fans are hungry for change. We get it power hitters K a lot. It's better than Vaughn's endless display of how to rack up reams of negative WAR. We want to support the younger guys not the old failures.

While casually dismissing Elko's future status,  it's hypocritical to put so much effort into Vaughn's future or even the future of an imaginary minor league relief pitcher.

It's not like the future is the only thing to have to worry about. You have to show a commitment to more than 41 wins and bad attendance and stop ignoring the putrid smell right under your nose stinking up the present.  Throw the fans a bone and stop worrying about Andrew Vaughn's pension and favored son status.

Getz just sucks.

And it's not like he is even connected to Vaughn's failure compared to Rick Hahn.

Andrew hardly had time to be blamed on minor league development mistakes anyway. Sticking him in the outfield due to Abreu's presence was the first cardinal sin.

While I always try to avoid the blatant Getz sucks comments because I see progress and realize he's got puppet strings attached to him, in this instance Getz sucks because the words coming out of his mouth is pure BS and not indicative of a grasp on the present. It actually sounds a lot like Hahn or JR forked tongue convoluted meanderings.

Give Elko 2-3 weeks and just bench Vaughn then.

Maybe that will snap him out of it.

Record doesn't even matter so much as progress towards 4-5 younger players establishing themselves as keepers going forward before Schultz/Smith/Taylor arrive.

Elko getting that dreamed of shot heartens the hopes of everyone else at Birmingham and below in the Sox minors...the belief that promotions are merit/performance-based and not just this political BS of playing favorites with some players over others.

And for God's sake Amaya and Palacios are AAAA players getting all kinds of opportunities.  Maton in his late 20's.

Enough.

Did they run this by his agency coaches?

Only Merkin and the Puff Piece Army at Sox Twitter.

Btw Shane Smith family and friends numbered 300 in his Fenway big league start btw.

(Although Elko's family has a lot further to go...)

Isn't that what an organization should be doing with their top talent? Are they supposed to let him languish at AAA for 3 years, striking out and putting up .150/.280/.300 slash lines until they DFA him? Colson's a prospect. They're backing him off for one on one help at the complex. I'm not sure how you feel they should proceed.

I'm not sure what you're arguing. You seem to be implying that there is a fan craving for kids to play at pass/fail, but it's a joke that the fan craving would turn into foot traffic. In which case, who cares what fans want? You guys are clearly saying fans won't show up if they get the players that online influencers are telling them they want.

Man, would you calm the f*** down for once on this site and just read something and not overreact to literally everything you read like this?  I was talking about VAUGHN getting every chance.  Not Colson.  Colson was the hypothetical in this situation that Cali is using, who also is flailing and failing and has been moved DOWN to correct his problems

I think we were talking about Vaughn not Montgomery.
Montgomery was just an example I used to show how Getz is spewing nonsense about data regarding a player they already have 4 seasons of data on and also using it to disrespect Elko's merits because of the difference in their draft positions while he spews talk from the other side of his mouth about building culture and accountabilty.

Feagan p**** footed around it instead of calling it out.

If Montgomery was hitting .250, he would probably have been called up
