Took Ozzie about 30 seconds to bring up Elko

Because it’s absolutely insane that a team that can’t hit won’t bring up someone showing a pulse.

Vaughn and Robert are fucking killing this team.

Robert 2 hits today SB and CS. Still not sure that wasn't a catch in the 1st but I doubt it gets overturned if challenged . The glove was not clearly under the ball so most likely a trap.

No reason besides JR crying about paying AV to keep him around he is killing this team night after night.

I doubt it . It's just management being stupid because Vaughn's a good soldier.

There no room for sentiment. Guys doing bad need to be sent down for guys who are doing good. Pretty damn simple.

Is 5.85 million so dear, or Vaughn so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of a sub .500 OPS and awful defense? God forbid it. As for me, give me Elko or give me death

Vaughn drove in Robert to tie the game.  Granted, Pantera's GIDP hurt, and late hits would have been nice.  But Cam Booser killed this game.  Bullpen holds, Sox win this game 4-3.

This game was lost in the first few innings when the Sox took the absolute least amount of runs they could have given how shitty the pitching was for the Brew Crew and the defense made Smith work way too hard and gave away at least two runs.

If you're going to keep running AV out there, at least move him down to the bottom third of the lineup.

On the bright side, Robert showing some signs of life and Vargas looking like a legit big leaguer since the mechanical changes to his swing.

I agree the poor situational hitting is maddening, and I hate to see the team beat themselves by failing the fundamentals.  Repeatedly.  This game was still winnable late though.

I've watched probably like 1K baseball games at least halfway at this point, maybe even 2k. Hawk is 100% accurate when he said 30 years ago your bullpen is only as good as your offense. And Bill James was right 40 years ago when he said 1 run games are basically crap shoots.

Good teams score runs in bunches when the starter has nothing and pad the lead so the least talented pitchers on the roster can't even think about blowing it most nights. That's just how it goes. I get what you're reacting to, it's just really not the root issue. The root issue is the offense once again is one of the worst in MLB history.

I will be very pleasantly surprised if Vargas turns into a legit mlb starter. It’s not much but stacking him with guys like quero, meidroth, Baldwin, and Sosa has the makings of a lineup that’s at least somewhat interesting.

It's a decent start, we've got a really, really, really long way to go. Need about 4x that amount of decent players. The good teams usually have 30-40 WAR. We'll be lucky to get 5 this year.

Oh I know but even having half a lineup that can maybe put up a .700 OPS is an improvement from last year. Would be great if Teel and Montgomery were solid pieces in the future as well. They really do need to start spending some money in FA though because they’ll never build a decent lineup organically.
