Falstaff
I don't see a GM role coming Hahn's way, but he could add value to a club dealing with contracts and extensions.

Its definitely someone else's fault they weren't better but by no means is Rick Hahn blameless for what happened here. 3

Yeah, the idea that this was just Rick Hahn and/or Kenny is laughable in the need to use simplicity to not indict those who are still here. It's an insult to anyone with common sense. Let me be fully aggressive there. While Rick Hahn and Kenny Williams own their fair share of responsibility here, the fact that the guy who ran one of the worst productive farm systems in baseball got a promotion, instead of his pink slip, is laughable. That's without even getting started on Jerry blocking Rick on hiring a real manager, and blocking them on bringing in actual high end MLB players to compliment the rebuild.

It might of been somewhat salvageable if they didn't hire LaRussa. I mean, Kenny and Hahn were TERRIBLE at drafting. If Jerry doesn't allow anyone to sign big name FAs, they could of drafted talent and made trades.

The funniest part of this entire segment is that if you didn’t know anything about the White Sox, you would have thought the entire rebuild story results in a World Series. Instead, they hype up a rebuild that goes nowhere. 🤣

caulfield12
"The demise of the 2024–25 Orioles and the window that never was is another example of why front offices need to stop talking about building “sustainable winners.” Windows for most clubs, other than the richest few, open and close quickly. When one does open, as it did for the Orioles in 2023, teams need to pour their resources into the moment rather than trying to foolishly think they can sustain success. Think the 2015 Royals getting veterans Johnny Cueto and Ben Zobrist to finish off that core group." si.com

Orioles got a rental ace and let him walk. Absolute madness.

Not sure Burnes was ultimately going to end up anywhere but the West Coast. Another weird part of this was Flaherty being garbage the prior year but getting straightened out in DET and LA. Now I half expect the Orioles to hire TLR.
caulfield12
The Blue Jays rebuild also fizzled out…although they did ultimately pay a high price to keep Guerrero, it’s quite hard to discern what direction they’re actually going in. Next, SD is 3/5 making the postseason and you can make arguments about financial stability long-term, but they at least became a legit contender. Ultimately, the success of the Astros Royals Cubs runs in that prior decade tricked lots of other teams.
