Cannon to 15-day IL, Caleb Freeman up from Charlotte

Not a victory for those pushing for someone new in the bullpen....such as Pallette.

Hmm maybe shouldn’t push a guy whose back is bothering him

We do not care about pushing injured players out there.

Manager said there is no time line for his return.

No shock, they blew the way they handled his injury

The latest in a long line of these type situations.

Venable said they took Cannon's word that he was "OK"

Didn't he skip a day with a back issue?

The Sox continue to do this, no matter who is in charge.  This is as funny as when they brought back our injury-prone guys early and told them to run the bases gingerly instead of at full speed.

EDIT:  Haha, just now on the broadcast Brooke Fletcher said that Venable’s first step is to trust the player in the team’s injury assessment process.  Meanwhile, posters in last night’s game thread immediately identified that Cannon’s velocity was down and something didn’t seem right.

Venable has done nothing to differentiate himself from Grifol.  Still have no idea why he took this job.

I honestly don’t see how he’s any better of a manager than Grifol.  He’s just better at schmoozing the media.  Grifol usually said something stupid the second he opened his mouth.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and the fact that he got an opportunity, only a few of these jobs become available and he felt if nothing else the experience would be beneficial.

If a player says he's fine, what would you do? Send him to the hospital for all of the possible tests?

The medical experts on this board amazes me.

Any player worth a damn is going to say they are OK, I know I was concussed in a game badly, to this day I still have no memory of what was going on from Friday night to Monday night but I played the next week.

My point is you don't just take his word for it, you have him examined by the team doctor or trainer and get that second opinion to be sure.

Now, if in fact, the Sox did this, then that leads credence to what fathom posted, that the Sox mishandled yet another injury situation.

PTATC you've got to admit, history shows they have had a number of questionable decisions in these matters, Robert himself immediately comes to mind having him play basically swinging with one arm a few years ago.

Sure. Every team has issues just look around the league. They may have more than others but they aren't alone.

To say its only the white sox and that they should ignore everything players say is just wrong.

If a players says he's fine, what tests do you perform, strength, facet, nerve tension tests? You can only tests where there may be some issues.

Eventually, the players have responsibilities as well.

What happened here was he had some issues, they gave him extra time, he thought he was good to go, pitched, didn't recover well so they are now giving him more time to recover.

I didn't realize games of bingo at the old folks' home gets so rough. I hope you're okay.

The point is, you do take his word for it. Do we start giving players lie detector tests when they're injured? Body MRIs for the entire team after every inning?

You proclaim the White Sox tragically wrong after every hangnail, which leads me to believe that if you're claiming they're wrong, they're right.

While I agree with most that you said, they should be monitoring things like Velo and react more quickly than they did.

Not sure why I can’t add text to the above. I just wanted to point out how insane that is.

Sometimes when you quote something and try and bold something within the quote, or click outside the post box, it gets really confused

Yeah I think that’s what happened. I appreciate you making me feel a little less dumb.

Yea sometimes I feel like Google ads causes it, because I will be typing and all the sudden the ad overtakes the typing box, then have to go back into it and at that point it feels like the chat box is just like “start over you dummy” 😂

I'm sure they are monitoring those metrics . Typically they are related to arm issues. Bit the same ideas apply. Are they changing due to fatigue? Just mechanics today? He was able to work through it the last couple of starts. This time he couldn't so he goes on the IL.
